Default Kooks custom headers

Car is at Kooks in NC getting a SS headers and catback. Here are the pictures sent today by James at Kooks. The pictures of a person holding the tips up were for mock-up purposes as I had to choose between quad or dual tips. Office/friend/dad consensus was quad, so I went with the quads;think either would have been an "ok" decision. System looks great, will post vids once I get it back. Built N/A motor will be done soon...

Are the two pipes joined in the middle at all?

Don't think so as far as them sharing exhaust. They looked welded together for stability...

Nice looking work. That setup will probably be pretty damn deep (due to no x-pipe) and loud lol. To me the lack of any x-pipe (to increase scanvenging) is a bit questionable though, unless this thing will be revving to the moon or is supercharged. I think SG motorsport's test of a 2.5" TD vs a single 3.5" exhaust showed how much low- mid range there is to be had by mixing the left and right banks after the headers.

Mind sharing anymore info on your built motor?? Don't hear of many built HR's these days

pretty well known fact that H or X pipe to equalize flow and pulses pretty much always improves power.

Yeah, that's why I would be very surprised that a company such as Kooks would overlook that. They've kinda been in the business a while.

Yes, shipped car to NC to have Kooks fabricate the headers. Can't answer the question about the mid-pipe, I assume it's a "x", but don't know for sure. I called, said "I want a set of long-tubes, here's my deposit, when can I send it", and that's about it.

Only call I got was on 7/12 asking if I wanted dual or quad tips. Went with quads. Kooks knows what they are doing, and I'm not an engineer, nor do I build exhaust systems so I didn't really question anything. Told them about the motor build, and what you see in these pics is what they decided on.
