Default motordyne questions

before i had the fast intentions res. test pipes and exhaust combo. was GREAT! sound, quality, gains. but for my daily driver the exhaust smell was a nono. the lady hated it.

sold that all out and im stock right now.

i want the motordyne tdx2 for sure. and art pipes seem like the perfect combo! but the smell is holding me back.

i saw a thread where motordyne added hfc's to the mid pipes of the tdx2.

i think it said it cost 200$ more.

if i did this does it defeat the art pipes? is it just better off to get HFC's and motordyne tdx2.

my main questions is.. art pipes with HFC built in the tdx2 VS Fast intentions HFC's with tdx2.

thanks!

BTW... FI hfcs are 500

art pipes are like 560? plus extra 200 for the built in hfc in the exhaust. so gets pretty pricy. but if its worth it im gonna go for it!

The smell is not bad at all - with the windows up you won't notice it. I drive around frequently with the windows down and still rarely smell anything - To be honest I kind of miss the whiff.

From my understanding, it doesn't defeat the purpose of the ART pipes since you're moving cats far down the exhaust system (less power loss?). You could always buy the setup as is, and then if you decide that you'd like to quiet down the system / minimize smell, believe it'll cost roughly $450 for midpiped hfc's.

To answer your main question, I would say ART Pipes with TDX2 - If you are unhappy with the smell, or sound (give it 500-1000 miles to quiet down), then you could always order the hfc'd midpipes after. The ART Pipes have great great gains, when I dyno'd them I believe it was +7whp and +11tq at peak. That, and the sound combined with the TDX2 is really clean. This video explains the sound best (as close as it gets to hearing it in person):

I've had the full TDX/ARTs for a couple of years and the only time I notice the exhaust smell is during cold start up and just sitting there warming up engine, etc. When driving in town for example, windows down I don't notice a thing. Good luck with it!

Im just the opposite...it doenst really bother me but the smell is always there. If the windows are down the smell, 90% of the time creeps around to the front.

YES, the TDX2 is a great exhaust!

I would just get them to add in the cats as well. Motordyne all the way.

Your car looks great, nice pics.! You have to admit that if you smell the exhaust from the MD, it smells just purdy!
