Hey man.. Just popped in from your link in my thread..

I read through it all,.. and What Renfro said was dead on the money:

Your best best for trying to achieve zero rasp (IMO) would be ART pipes, XYZ w/resonator, and putting the resonators back on your Greddy exhaust...if that's not loud enough, ****** a set of headers. That would be the route I would go. It's a pricey one though.

Regardless of the exhaust setups I've heard (besides a full motordyne setup w/ART pipes), nearly all of them had rasp. The ones that didn't really have much were very quiet. It'll really be a trial and error process until you can get it just how you like it.
First,.. Once you do ANYTHING with the Stock Cats some tiny bit of Rasp is going to be there -- There's just no stopping it.

But, while ZERO rasp was/is my goal as well -- I've since learned that a tiny hint of rasp is a GOOD thing,.. it's not Fart can sound like you imagine it.

Bottom line is this: -- ART pipes are going to = More Rasp than HFC's (but the LEAST amount of Rasp among ANY testpipes in the world.. it's not a lot. And, ART pipes will keep your "Must be loud" factor up there.. over High quality HFC's.

HFC's -- and really all I consider are Berk HFC's to be honest - Are going to be louder than your Stock cats.. again, you pull the stock cats Volume always goes up,.. this is a fact. It will be noticeably louder,.. will it be as loud as you want? That's almost impossible to answer because that is sort of an intangible thing that only you will know when *you* hear it.. which makes this sort of highly personalized question tough as hell to answer with precision.

Personally I went with the Invidia Gemini Cat-back because I wanted Sexy DEEP exhaust that was proven by everyone I've ever seen use/have it to be quality and liked. My goals were to be louder.. but NOT overtly loud (even if sexy as hell sounding .. if it's too loud, I don't want it.. That's ME.) -- I also didn't want drone. Guess what,.. I have Drone from 2k-3k -- But I love it. The best sound with this exhaust on this car comes at 2k-3k.. then at 3k+ it's like a silencer is put on it and it's near factory noise levels (now I don't know exactly how loud it sounds 50 feet away .. but I'm going to do some drive bys this weekend when I buy a Camcorder (been researching those too) -- Because all I have now is my Iphone which has a built in High pass X-over that cutsoff from 200hz (or so) and below.. which with exhaust doesn't fly to get an accurate sound in a video.) -- Which may also be why the clips you see sound less pleasing than you anticipating. The online videos and clips help, .. but unless someone is using a fairly good camera and NOT their Smartphones you aren't hearing it anything like it sounds in RL.

As you know, I'm going with Berk HFC's (I have them with me now ) -- Will have them on by Early next week at the latest. Problem is you are only going to hear how they sound with my Invidia Gemini setup.. So the best clue you are going to get is the difference in db's, volume, loudness the Berk HFC's make my Invidia Gemini Catback true duals.. But I'm going to record on a tripod in a marked spot this weekend before they HFC's are on with the new camera,.. and then record again in that same spot , same camera, (eliminating variable) with the Berk's on.. which is about the best you can do aside from hearing it in person.

But back to the quote I put up there..

I've heard GREAT things about the XYZ with resonator. That setup with resonator really kicks rasps ***.. Look up that specific setup he quoted.. with and without resonators and see if you can tell differences.

The only issue I can see with that is it may not be loud enough for you.

Why? Because, from your clips your setup now is quite loud already and you still have stock headers and stock cats on..

Sorry can't tell you -- Get A, B, and C and you'll be set lol.. But maybe next week my videos will at least help you further your understanding of just what Berk HFC's may do to your current setup.

Great post.

I cut the resonators because it was $50 and reversible. Granted HFCs or ARTs would be too, but 20 minutes vs. knuckle busting hours? No brainer. I'm better off financially now too so it is more practical. I don't see me getting either for a few months at least as I don't want down time when the weather is decent here. If winter keeps up though I'ma need something to boost my morale! FWD handbrake drifting isn't cutting it anymore...

I for sure want to hear a before/after video... most people don't do. Mine was just stock to Evo 2 so I didn't make a before, just after.

I'll use your research to see how much louder it gets, with HFCs and then base it off that. My car is already a sexy "sore thumb" in my town with the next most noticeable thing being stock Camaros and Vettes, so I don't want to draw TOO much attention, but do want to scream when I get on it.

Thanks for the reply..

Hehe.. no problem.

I think your car sounds absolutely phenomenal, especially in that last clip.
