What sort of gains can you expect from replacing the Y-Pipe with an aftermarket one?

Well, Japtrix did a dyno of their Y-Pipe and it shpwed ~ 5-6 HP. I believe all the available Y-Pipes will produce the same gains.

Is Japtrix a japanese part or a US made part?

I ask because US headers dont work on a right hand drive car, and im wondering if there are any issues with US Y-Pipes and right hand drive cars?

I wouldnt think so, but anybody know for sure?

Japtrix is the name of a US company. It's a racing/performance shop.

only thing in the exhaust system that will NOT work on a RHD car is the Headers...

Y-Pipe and the rest of the exhaust is the same....

Hmm...I'm wondering what kind of gains I would get with changing the y-pipe and adding headers....but using the stock muffler. Maybe even High flow cats. I like the stock exhaust tone. I figure with just headers and a y-pipe it shouldn't make too much of a change. I added Long tube headers on a friends LS1 with stock muffler...and it didn't change the sound much.

lots...

just as much as an exhaust system minus 1 or 2 horse power...

the most restrictive things in our exhaust system are the Y-Pipe, Cats.... The headers are... but per dollar horse power may not be worth it to some..

and with just High flow cats and a y-pipe...how well does the stock computer tune handle this(after resetting of course) as far as air/fuel...etc. ?

Jason@Performance, any thoughts?

Also, who sells the Japtrix mid pipe?

Thanks in advance

I did a search on the japtrix mid pipe, and it seems that the exhaust sounds nasty with hi-flow cats + aftermarket y-pipe+ japtrix midpipe. Remember, the japtrix midpipe gets rid of the resonator.

Eh? The Japtrix B-Pipe has a resonator.

no need to reset or antyhing...

stock exhaust handles it fine.. the muffler and resonator is pretty free flowing in its self... the most restrictive part of the stock exhaust is the cats and the Y Pipe.

cool, the reason I was asking was because I saw somewhere on this forum a thread about Random Cats causing a lean condition. I'll confess that I didn't read the thread, just saw the heading. On a side note, when I added headers/high flow cats on my LS1 camaro....I was running pig rich before dyno tuning(but they were long tube headers). Anyway, a JIC y-pipe, headers (not sure which is the best, what do you recommend), and random cats sounds very tempting to install with my stock muffler But I don't want to have problems...I just want to bolt them on and drive !

you will not have a problem.. if your car does lean out it is in the low rpm's where it is not as important... my car runs rich with the RT Cats...

The NISMO Headers are the best IMHO... they have the largest and smoothest collector, The new headers from nismo are class A...

NISMO Headers are Stainless Steel. Beautiful Strong welds.

The new ones are SAHWEET!

As far as Y-Pipes are concerned... The Fujitsubo is very nice and all... but the JIC has just such a more direct flow of exhaust gasses and a larger more free flowing collector...

Tighter? Not lined up properly?
