can the y pipe be mounted in only one way...in other words, can it be upside down?

i had one gasket on before then i replaced it with a new one but still leaking, that's why i tried to put 2 in...won't work either
i can see a little gap at the flange and water leaking out.....flange was poorly made...do you guys think i can have a muffler shop to rebuild a new flange for me? or i should give JIC USA a call?

I definately would NOT give JIC USA a call..it will surely fall on deaf ears.

Talk to whomever sold you the Y pipe....let them handle it for you

I had no leaks. Great quality (made in Japan), comes with new gaskets and attach hardware.

like i said...perhaps it will line up better if you flip the entire Y-pipe upside down? it sounds like the flanges are not in the same plane.

I have high flow cats with stock headers and stock muffler. If I change out just the y pipe will that change the exhaust sound? And as far as power maybe 4 - 6 HP in there?

Another question if I get a JIC y pipe say I want to change the muffler in the future do any companies sell just the muffler and mid pipe and not the y pipe?

B&B has a system consisting of Midpipe and muffler only. Fujitsubo as well.

if you change to the JIC Y-Pipe you will get about the same gain as a single exit cat back exhaust...

Is that a good thing?!?!?!?! LOL... Options I like those.. So if I were to get just the y pipe I would be losing only 1-2 horse compared to a full setup. Humm got me thinking now all I got to figure out is how it will sound!

yes.. the Y-pipe is the most restrictive part of the exhaust system from the cats and back. the rest is for looks and sound mostly...

Default JIC Y-pipe

I had no leaks after my installation. It came with new gaskets and attach hardware. It is a very high quality part (made in Japan). By the way, it only fits one way (not symmetrical).

I think I like the JIC one. Whats your opinion Jason? I plan to go FI later this year. I'm thinking the JIC y-pipe with Apex'1 exhaust and some cat delete pipes would work well

JIC i like best...

More TQ down low seems to come from less back pressure... pressure is built up from more resistance, this is why the true duals give better low end torque then the single exits because they are soo open in the lower rpm's... JIC would give more Low End TQ and about the same Peak HP if not more then the fujitsubo...

but in a FI situation.... I say go with the JIC...

i like the jic, don't get me wrong, and i'm sure that the hp differences are probably so small between any of the y pipes, but didn't all of the true duals show a loss in hp and torque below 2000 rpm in the exhaust shootout?

that said...i am, of course, saving for the jic.
