I have an 08 and just put cat back and jwt pop chargers on it. I want to put test pipes or high flow cats on it, and was wondering what I could do about the CEL coming on. (Which I know is unavoidable) do O2 extenders help? Or do I pretty much have to get them tuned out and/or live with the check engine light on?

Cool. I want to tune it, but not until I'm completely done with mods. I was just wondering if anything could be done to clear a CEL in the meantime.

I still plan on doing the Z1 intake plenum. Other than that, you're right that's all there is.

Thanks man, I guess I'll live with it until I can get it tuned. It will pass emissions after tuning though, right?

Where I'm at currently doesn't require emissions testing, but I will be moving to a bigger city in the next year. I'm wondering if the tune tricks the computer into proper o2 readings, or if just keeps it from going into "ready" status which won't throw a CEL but if the OBD connection on the emissions tester sees a non-ready status then it won't allow it to pass.

It depends on the county. Only counties that require you to pass emissions won't pass state inspections. I live in Corpus Christi, which is in Nueces county and we don't test for emissions here.

Luckily I'm a tech at a Nissan dealership, so that wouldn't seem too bad of an idea. I would hate to snap a stud or something.

Think I'll try the extenders/non-fouler road with steel wool and see if that works. If not, I guess I'll swap the cats back and forth.
