Actually the leaning it what gains the power. I read a great article by Dave Coleman, and I want to say the test subject was an SER spec V. The important part is that they determined that the cold air intakes added more air but more importantly the maf wasn't detecting the increase or not enough thus leaning the mixture that the ecu would correct for if the maf had picked it up. And while I have no experience tuning a Z33 generally a tune makes power again by leaning mixture and advancing timing a bit where it can. the old carb guys used to say "leaner is meaner" for a reason. Manufacturers need to consider longevity above all else and need to ensure that when they sell a new car even if someone runs around bouncing off the rev limiter all day and driving in incredibly varies atmospheric and temperature ranges so they dial in a bit more safety that whats really needed.

Yes Forced induction is the best bang for the buck but a large margin, greater initial investment but far greater gain. Unfortunately If you compete in any motorsport that generally would put you in a class where the guy with the most money wins so more modest or no modification may be the best answer if you have any intent to use your car in motorsport.

Coilovers-quafie- save for F/I
If I had 5-7k I would for sure turbo no questions asked. The bad part about where I live is I'm no mechanic and there are literally no speed shops around my area. Heck the town I live in most dealers won't even touch turboed cars or work on a lot of cars like the Zs

Unless you have deep pockets are are able to do your own work stock might be the best choice. Hard to be a baller on a budget.

True story. I'm personally not looking to make crazy gains right now. Like most people say just learning to drive the car makes the difference in the world. I literally just got the car a week ago so I'm not looking to tear it apart and dump thousands into it right now.

Would be way more than that with labor and shipping the car to have a shop do the mods. I live in the middle of corn fields where guys and girls just want jacked up trucks and mud tires. I can't even get a shop to look at my car in my town unless it's for a oil change lol its sad.

Yes, they may offer more power, but is the minimal gain really worth it? I have the motordyne iso-thermal plenum spacer on my Z and I just got my popcharger yesterday. Just so you know, the popcharger will only bolt up to the stock oem intake pipe. I bought my Z with an AEM short ram. After trying to install it, it would not fit because my AEM short ram intake pipe isn't long enough. Went and bought the "Z Tube" from z1motorsports today and should fit on nicely when I get it. Also, since I bought my Z with the plenum spacer installed, you may still use the oem strut bar, as long as you have the oem intake manifold installed
This is exactly what i was trying to find out. For once using a search function on a forums gave me actual results!
I should be getting my 5/16th" spacer tomorrow and I completely didn't think whether it would fit under the factory stabilizer or if I'd need to replace it or modify it somehow. Considering I also just installed a fiberglass "vader" style hood I was starting to be concerned. Glad to find out that the spacer should fit with the stock stabilizer.
