Default Z Plenum questions ?

Okay please bare with me if this is a dumb questions but I'm new to the Z life. I just got my Z a couple days ago. I've been trying to research aftermarket bolt on equipment to make them better than they already are.

My question is with Plenums .. I saw some aftermarket ones like the ones sold by Crawford like this one https://www.crawfordz.com/plenum.htm

My question is if I buy this and install it would that eliminate the need for the aftermarket Plenum spacers like the Motordyne 5/16 Iso Thermal Plenum Spacer ? Or I could I be both and double the benefits?

All the help and recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

I'm wondering about this too because I've also seen these online and I'm curious which one would be better.

IF you can buy both that would be great. My thinking was if you're buying an aftermarket Plenum I would think that they manufactured the largest they could where you wouldn't even need the spacer by Motordyne.

My logic might not be right though.

Don't buy the Kinetix unless its a V2. Most people selling them used will have no clue what they have. The actual plenum chamber is tapered. The v1 is not. This is also the difference between it making less power than stock, and giving you some gains (on N/A)

Neither adds much, 5-6 whp each individually. The spacer adds as much as the plenum at a fraction of the cost. The 2 combined offer very little more than just the spacer alone. Might get 8 whp from the 2 combined.

You could do it but you'll need a HR hood. Also I have the crawford polish plenum and to me it's better then the spacer.

Well my car is the 06 6 speed so it has the Rev up. Would I still need a HR hood if I just add the crawford or am I still better off just getting the spacer?

You won't need the HR hood. I was just stating if you were going spacer and crawford combo. You won't be able to use your OEM strut bar but I heard someone mention before of using washer.

If the crawford doesn't produce that much esp for the $400 price I might just add the spacer and be done with it. I ordered the pop charger yesterday after reading 98% of people swear by them on this forum.

When it comes to buying bolt on mods, just think about if it's really worth the money. I know the kintek manifolds are extremely expensive. Yes, they may offer more power, but is the minimal gain really worth it? I have the motordyne iso-thermal plenum spacer on my Z and I just got my popcharger yesterday. Just so you know, the popcharger will only bolt up to the stock oem intake pipe. I bought my Z with an AEM short ram. After trying to install it, it would not fit because my AEM short ram intake pipe isn't long enough. Went and bought the "Z Tube" from z1motorsports today and should fit on nicely when I get it. Also, since I bought my Z with the plenum spacer installed, you may still use the oem strut bar, as long as you have the oem intake manifold installed

This actually helped me out. My z is bone stock right now so no troubles on the pop charger but after reading I think I will just stick with the spacer. Maybe around take time if I have money just to throw at it I will get the crawford or like product. I don't think for 400+ I would be able to even tell a noticeable deference enough to make me happy for paying that much money to be honest.

Yeah I'm not sure I would even get too carried away with having it tuned etc. My plans is the spacer, wheels, already got the pop charger. Exhaust sounds good enough for me right now. Also want to upgrade the clutch for sure. My exhaust is not stock but the dealer didn't know what exhaust was on it.

My buddy drives a new ford with dual exhaust that is super load and he said going through the bigger town he could hear my car over his truck when he was following behind me.

just remember, with any breathing mod (intake, plenum spacer, and exhaust.... test pipes being the biggest culprit) you lean out the motor

So would you recommend getting it tuned after adding a spacer and the new intake?

I could afford it if I was going to lose performance lol. I'm assuming it still has cats but not completely sure on that one. It's been raining here for days so the cars been under the cover.

New to zs as well and from what I've read over 350 posts or so is just save for F/I no point in putting 3000$ worth of bolt ons on to make 20whp. When u could spend double that and get 150hpish. I know the 5-7000$ is a big lump but I'm sure it will be worth the wait!!

Coilovers-quafie- save for F/I
