Need exhaust help
So I just bought a 350z and they guy a bought it from has this loud *** exhaust on it. I like it when showing off to my friends or going fast but it gets annoying when you are talking to some one or getting out of your neighbor hood. So I was wondering if there is such thing as a valve to close it when i want it to be silent. could i use something like this?

That's a cheater valve.
Essentially, you install that on a pipe exiting to the side (or wherever) to an open pipe BEFORE YOUR SILENCERS (whatever that happens to be). Gives one the ability to "uncap" your exhaust and run it with NO MUFFLING.
NOT a good idea if you think your exhaust is loud now. (And will not pass scrutineering if you track it....most tracks have sound output restrictions.)
The way it's marketed however, is as a restrictor so LESS exhaust flows through your muffs. Also not a good idea as engine performance suffers.... nay, becomes non-existent. Bleah. Device itself does NO muffling.
Just go get yourself a quieter exhaust system... In the performance arena, you might want to consider, say, a Tanabe Medalion Touring or somesuch.... supposedly/allegedly keeps the exhaust relatively quiet (like down around 93dB under WOT) but deeper in tone. No personal experience but I've heard the system and it sounds decent.

See what exhaust you're running first. Sell the old one or weld in resonators/ a muffler. Otherwise there are plenty of exhaust systems thats are on the quieter side of the spectrum.
You can use the value, I'd just design it to by bypass the mufflers and resonators and merge it back into your pipes right before the exhaust tips. Its a fair bit of work, but if its something that interests you, its worth it.

Borla is awesome I concur. I think the control valve is $ for something so silly, do you really want to keep one hand on the button to try and silence your exhaust while shifting? my question is does it work or does it give too much back-pressure?
I too just bought a z with a completely open exhaust, not even cats. so my first step is to put some cats on. its so loud i have to shout to my passenger. and forget hearing the radio. put some cats on and a nice cat-back system she should sound sweet.
google "invidia n1 catback" too it and borla are great for deep throaty yet great performance systems, as well as mandrel bent. they also come with resonators which is also good for taking the db down a few.
