New Z, loud exhaust, help please
So I just bought a 03' Z, and it came with a 3" AAM true dual exhaust that uses a straight pipe. Does anyone happen to know a way to make it a little less loud? I'm very nooby when it comes to exhaust terms so please bare with me lol. I was thinking welding on a cat, or replacing the test pipe period with the stock cat. Any suggestions are appreciated
I absolutely adore the purr it gives, it's just loud AF
Since it is the true dual, wouldn't I have to buy 2 cats and or 2 resonators?
I've tried to find the sound difference from test pipe, resonator, and cat. but cannot find anything

2 of these and call aI shop for some welding. If you just for the car it might be tuned for the no catalytic converters set-up but you never know. I would rather run some high flow cats myself. Good luck and congrats on the sweet new z

I love it, its just not the right exhaust system for someone like me who lives at the back of the neighborhood, neighbors with cops, and gets off work at 11:30pm
A friend recommended drilling holes into a potato and shoving it in there when I head home from work as a temporary solution
(He was being completely sarcastic though, so please no butthurt replies)

OK, so after spending a ridiculous amount of time of straight twiddling around on YouTube. I came across this little do hickey called a silencer. Does it work (YouTube suggests it does) does the actual design make sense (I believe so). Create a little back pressure so any burst of gas doesn't just crawl out, it has to push through the buildup of small amount of pressure (At idle, which is what I'm practically driving through neighborhoods at). I was just wanting all yalls input on it.

Exhaust silencers , kinda work they look hideous in your exhaust though sometimes they make it sound too aswell. If you cant handle it i suggest you buy a second hand stock Z muffler they're not that expensive.

Can I get a reference link to Tomei? Feel like I'm being left out of a joke 😠So the underlying problem is that I'm a broke *** college student and cant really do a full exhaust rebuild 😧 I was just wanting a cheap temporary solution(so my ***** neighbors wont call a noise complaint on me (They called one on me for a paintball gun at 8pm still light out😂)) that would last until I found something like Variable Exhaust Valves or some **** like that

I know in Ontario you can find used full exhaust for a z for like 400$ (headers back) not sure if cats included in that or not but I'm sure if they upgraded for power or noise they using aftermarket. And if u can swing 400$ (aprx) then maybe a Honda?
Sorry 200$ with cats. http://m.kijiji.ca/other-auto-parts-and-accessories/mississauga-peel-region/03-nissan-350z-exhaust/v?adId=1081554179&ck=CK&from=Search&ts=1435097603733

Butt seriously, OP, unless you can put some additional muffling on that big pipe exhaust (which I totally don't understand why anyone needs that much pipe if not force inducted), yer SOL. Just short shift it and coast home if you don't wanna rile the neighbors. It's not THAT loud unless yer standing on the volume pedal.
I also hear that adding a turbo to bank 1 and bank 2 quiets it down a fair amount.

then searched just tomei and got tomeiUSA (merica) problem with these are the prices
