right, but i didnt know there would be an accompanying fuel smell + pops. I read that somepeople like the pops -- personally i hate them.
Im going to call Ptuning again tomorrow. Ask them if I am running rich (fuel smell + existence of pops), if we could try to run the car a bit leaner. Hopefully would remove both, and the performance hit can't be more then 1-2%
There was a user who had some High Flow Cats installed into the second to last pipes of the TDXv2, it eliminate the smell and might eliminate the "poping". When I had this set up it wasn't that bad, you'll get used to it...give it some time. The high flow cats at that point isn't going to change to much of your power but will kill the smell.

they must have been some long HFCs to perfectly fit as those mid pipes. One of them has to be bent too to accomodate the rear sway. What brand, would you recall?
I'm located in the DC area. If need to sell them they are all yours, but bear in the asking price will be rather close to the MSRP. They are only 2 weeks old
Enough that its annoying me, but I am kinda a perfectionist. It's also the pops that are getting to me more. Before I go to the shop, is there any reason that no cats (so fuel smell) would produce pops in the exhaust? Would that fuel smell be enough of a fuel concentration to burn up and create the noise in the exhaust? Tony at MD said that this shouldnt be happening, but what does the community think?
Doubtful, also Tony is extremely knowledgeable as his background involves rocket science I believe. What is sound exactly like? Does it only happen if you speed up and let off the gas and slow down? Any chance you could take a video? I am in the Gainesville area if you're near by.
It only happens after I speed up and then let off the gas (or shift down, or in neutral). And I wish I could show you, but it doesnt happen that much when my car is idle and just having the engine being revved (aka in my driveway).
Is running rich a problem that the dynotune should have solved? Ptuning did the tune like 2 weeks ago.
it is because you have no back pressure, when you let off the throttle, yo have high speed gasses (from when you were on the throttle) and then lower speed gasses coming (after you let off the throttle). i THINK that the pops are the start of the slower gasses coming out.
Good questions. I dont know how hfc perform on the VQ but am pretty sure it will cutout the smell. As for pops mine does it with stock cats so i think there isnt much you can do aside from getting a quiter exhaust or adding resonators somewhere.

Both the test pipes and exhaust ends have resonators. Thats 4 total (2 per side). lol how many more are needed and where would they go?
