O2 Sensor Question
I drive an 05 track edition z with a few light mods, including motordyne ART test pipes. After the test pipes were on for about a month my car threw the codes P1274(sensor 1) and P1146(heated o2 sensor 2). I took my car to a performance shop (which I realize was stupid) and $250 later I had a new o2 sensor and was told the code was taken care of. The next day the code came back. I took the car back to the shop and they went in and I guess disabled those two codes from being able to trip the CEL. SO things were great for a few months until today. Today my car threw the code P1283 (bank 2). I really don't want to go through the process of replacing another o2 sensor and it not working again.
So my question is, if I get this code disabled, then that means I will have 3 o2 sensor codes disabled, would I ever know if anything is wrong with my 02 sensors? And would it matter if something was wrong with the o2 sensors if the codes are disabled? Thanks for any help and sorry for the vagueness of the descriptions for the codes, those are the only things I could find on them.

Somebody please help. I only have enough time to take my car to the mechanic or to dynosty next week. I have to make sure i know if the o2 sensor is bad or if i just beed to remove the code.

From what I've read, p1283 is a lean condition read on bank 2, sensor 1. this is the sensor that's pre-cat. If you're running lean, they should be able to confirm this when you go get tuned. Definitely wanna get that a/f fixed before you burn up a valve or something. If the sensor itself is bad, replace it with a Denso sensor. From what I've read, a lot of poepl will try and use the more common Bosch wideband replacements you can get at most auto parts stores. More often than not, the code comes again. Something about the speed at which the Bosch sensor reads compared to the Denso one. Get the Denso, I think that's what comes OEM anyway.

So if it's running lean that means they didn't tune it right? Because it was running fine before the tune? Ive been trying to get it into the shop but things have been a little hectic.

I'd be surprised if anybody would tune you for $250. When i say "tune" i mean they flash your ECU and put your car on the dyno and get max power out of it with the mods you have. The biggest thing here is they correct your air/fuel ratio and make it safer to drive. I went to uprev to get mine done. Be prepared, it costs a pretty penny to get that first tune.

I think i may have been a little unclear in my original post. The o2 sensor problems started happening after i got my car tuned. Do they have to re-tune the car to fix this? And finally got an appointment on Monday so hopefully itll be fixed then!
