Anyone have any issues will the hks exhaust making a pinging sound from it over time?

 

Test pipes or hfc?

 

No hfc or test pipes. Deleted resonators. The ping was in the resonators before I deleted them, that's why I cut them out. All that did was push the noise to the rear.

 

Some of the resonator material may have made its way further aft in the system.

 

So should I fish around inside the muffler and see what I can find? It is the HKS system, so it has the chambers above the mufflers.

 

Yea i dont know. But possible resonator material traveled or your problem is in the muffler packing coming apart

 

Can you fix the muffler packing?? buy a new muffler? cut it open and repack with fiberglass and then weld it up?

 

Is it possible yea. But probably not worth it. If i were in your position i would have replaced the resonators with the magnaflow resonated x pipe. Then is noise persisted i would removed the mufflers and welded straight pipe in that position creating a motordyne type resonated straight pipe out of the hks system. Im waiting for my hks rep to reak and do just that.
