Default Who has exhaust, intake, headers, cams, flywheel, pully...

Hello,

Just got my second z. My first was 03 blue tour. Now I have a black roadster. Looking to add exhaust, intake, headers, cams, flywheel, pulley, breaks springs and swaybar starting next week.

Would like to know from fellow z OWNERS that have made mods. I think the right combo of exhaust, intake, headers, cams, flywheel, and pulley are what I would like to here most about. I have read many many threads already and have a good idea that I am going to go eibach springs and nismio sway bars. Breaks are still up in the air but rather hear about the other mods.

To get started I am thinking of going with the Stillen Dual wall tip exhaust and the GruppeM Carbon fiber CAI (if i find any reviews on it, if not I will go simple with JW POP-CHARGER to avoid heat with the metal pipes of other systems).

I will build the car up over 6-10 weeks. Might add a TT later on if I get board:-)

Thanks
-Scott

with the amount of money you're looking to spend on NA mods, you might as well go for a supercharger or TT now. I think the prices might be close.

JWT Cams (wish I never took out my Nismos)
Ported & Polished Heads
Nismo Headers
Nismo Exhaust
UD Pully
R/T Cats

And that's only the drivetrain.

Rims, brakes, control arms are drivetrain? Sound like suspension to me!

You're right, you're being a d!cK as usual. Considering I have the rims, don't need the control arms, and am waiting for an appropriate brake package to surface, I don't think it's envy at all. Nothing wrong with doing it right the first time.

Default I would like to know some results on performance.

Hello again.

Not worried about money too much. This is just another toy for me. I have been lucky in my business and it is doing well each month we are seeing 15 -20% growth. I am not rich but can afford these extras in life now. I could have bought a more expansive car but I have an attachment to the Z.

My father who past away a long time ago use to take me out in his 240 with the t-tops off. And now the new Z brings back some of the old feelings. I know if he was around he would have one.

I am starting to hear violins in the background so enough of me and this little sob story.

I would like to see some post of results of track time or dynos ect.... with your mods.

Please keep this post civil.

Thanks
-Scott

Jeff why do you wish you never took out the Nismos? I thought the JWT cams were supposed to produce more power and be quite streetable?

I'm not sure I understand this. It's just a toy so I'm not really prepping it for anything. Just trying to have an automotive good time.

I would recommend:

Engine:
Grounding Kit
Gruppe-M CAI
Crawford Package - (Plenum, Strut bar, Headers, and High Flow cats)
Exhaust of choice based on sound and looks - (Stillen has good gains but a little heavier than most)
UR Crank pulley or the set
JWT Flywheel
Nismo or JWT Cams (Tomei if you are really wild)
Possibly a Technosquare ECU upgrade if needed

or

TT kit with custom exhaust
JWT Flywheel
Upgraded Clutch

Brakes:
Stoptech 13" kit unless you plan on 19" rims then possibly the 14" kit all around

Springs:
RSR springs or if money is no issue HKS Hypermax II coilovers

Sway Bar:
350Evo with poly bushings

Default Would like to hear from those who have mods in car.

hi,

I would like to hear what people recommend based on experience. I understand that everyone has a wish list but I am looking for z owners who have already made changes and can tell me what they like and what type of performance that received from them combined.

Thanks again.

Do a search for the list of the highest HP N/A cars. I forget exactly what the thread was called, but it's floating around here somewhere (if it's not on the first page, then it's probably on the second or third). Anyhow, that should give you an idea of who has what mods, and maybe you could PM some of the people on that list to see what they think (if they don't post in here before then).

Sounds like a great project. Good luck!

I didn't understand either.

Aren't you an actual racecar driver anyways?

Haha. yes, but that sounds funny. I don't race professionally (for a living) but I do race the NHRA and IHRA circuit in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and if I am doing well, Ohio, North Carolina and some other states depending. I do depend on racing for a large chunk of my yearly taxable income though.

Back on topic,
The GruppeM is an amazing piece of equipment and the quality is bar none. The difference of the car was felt after 4k rpm and was noticeable.
I recommend www.renn-sport.net for your GruppeM needs, just email Samir.

Default Nice to see

Another SB Roadie going for it!!

I've got a SB Roadie also. Currently I have the Injen CAI, & Grounding kit installed. On 3/6 I will be adding the Crawford Headers, Crawford Hi-Flow Cats & Borla True Dual Exhaust. Haven't decided on doing the pulley yet or not. May wait until next winter. I will post a full report for you after the install.
