So I've been spending the past week or so pouring through intake manifold threads and all these custom designs from more innovative guys than myself come up and I forgot where I read one in particular that gave me an idea. Take a look at the SFR manifold for the altima...

I like the idea of having the throttle body tube into the manifold being in the middle of the runners. I feel like there wouldn't be as much flow lost to the front 2 cylinders this way. I don't think it'd be too hard to cut off the neck of that manifold and change the angle to make it point more towards the factory airbox location behind the driver's side headlight. the only real problem I see is clearance. I bet that would be a problem when we try to close the hood but I'm not sure.

Kinetix also makes a similar design for the Maxima/Altima guys. Theirs looks a little more compact so maybe the clearance issue would be mitigated a bit?

I'm considering the NWP throttle body and a 3.5 inch intake and I feel those would be useless without a better flowing and larger diameter pipe with less bends in it leading into the manifold.

I know this intake manifold topic has been widely discussed, probably ad nauseam, but I'm curious what the more experienced and more intelligent have to say about this idea. What are your thoughts, gents?

N/A. Maybe one day SC but unlikely. Probably never TT.

 

Why not just get the velocity manifold from kinetix... Basically the same and doesn't seem to net much gains in NA cars... But looks awesome...

 

Looking at the differences, the one for the Altima has less long piping and bends to go through. It seems like a much more direct path for the air and it'd be much easier to weld on a larger diameter pipe post throttle body. Also, said pipe and throttle body would be closer to the front of the engine bay where there would be a little less heat soak. This is my reasoning, at least.

 

On further inspection, it looks like the body of the piece would have to be hanging over to the passenger side when considering the way the bolt holes are laid out. Now I'm thinking I could probably just run an intake pipe to right in front of the radiator.

 

This outflows a kinetix velocity and fits like stock.
