Borla S-Type cat-back exhaust & K&N 69 Series Typhoon dual cold air intake
Hey guys,
A quick question. I'm in the process of purchasing a Borla S-Type cat-back exhaust & K&N 69 Series Typhoon dual cold air intake for my 2007 Nissan 350z.
My question is once I install them on my car, do I have to tune my ECU (chip tuning), or can I go on without that?
I'm aware that tuning the ECU adds a little bit of horsepower, but do I really have to do it? & if I don't, will that affect my car's mechanism & performance in any negative way?
The reason I'm asking is because the chip tuning shop advised me that's it's recommended to tune the ECU to get the most out of my mods, but an expert (supposedly) at the car dealership told me that all new cars have sensor that will give the new readings automatically once I install the exhaust & the intake. So for the little amount of horsepower that I'll gain from tuning my ECU, I could do without, as it won't make that great difference as opposed to not tuning the ECU. He said that this will ultimately spare me dealing with guys that aren't experts in tuning the ECU, or any tom, dick & harry that don't know what he's doing, messing with my car's ECU.
He also added that they recommend tuning the ECU, only if I was heavily modifying my car (i.e. replacing my cams, adding turbos/supercharge, etc.).
Please advise. Many thanks.

Dude I just spoke to Naz from Deutsche Technik (that's a tuning shop that specializes in tuning German & Japanese cars) & asked him the same question. He said if I'm only installing intakes & cat-back exhaust, then I don't need to tune the ECU.
