Default Borla Exhaust advice

Hey guys,

Anyone running the Borla dual exhaust? There's a local one that I could probably get for 200 bucks.

Is it just for sound or there much HP to be had with it? Not looking for a loud exhaust or more importantly, I don't want drone from the exhaust.

OK thanks. Not a big deal with power, just want to make sure it has no drone. Then again, is it worth spending the money if it doesn't make any more power?

Not really but the sounds are intoxicating when you get that VQ past 4k rpm.

I'll admit it.... my S-Tune wasn't purchased for power gains. No delusions. But bouncing the sound off trees or valley walls. Oh yeah...

FWIW, $200 for a Borla isn't bad.... if you hate it, well, it's pocket change and a couple hours of labor, relatively speaking.

I went through stock exhaust, to a titanium JIC single, to a Borla. I also have a Motordyne TDX2 that has been sitting in the garage for 5 years because I just never got around to installing it.

LOVE the Borla, for what it is.

Loved the JIC for the weight reduction and the orgasmic sound at high RPMs, but it was loud as a mother****er and droned unconscionably at 2500rpm.

At lower RPMs, the Borla is no louder than stock, but sounds closer to a V8 rumble than the traditional VQ (not joking).

In the midrange, it sounds like a mechanical v6, which isn't entirely pleasing, but is no worse than stock, IMO.

On the top-end, it is definitely louder than stock, with a nice tone. The tone will be more appreciated if hitting 7-7.5k inside of a tunnel.

It won't add more than ~10whp, but should definitely add power. It also weighs ~10lbs less than stock.

It's common for the "H-pipe" to break. Mine had to be seam-welded. Some people swap that section out for an X-pipe or similar from Magnaflow.

$200 is a steal and you should do it. I for one hate the way a stock VQ sounds.

Well. I bought the exhaust and it's all tweaked. Spent 8 hours trying to get it set in properly with no avail.

Might have just lost 200 bucks...

All the slip joints make it fun, even one that is New In Box can be a pain.

Well worth it, one of the better exhausts on the market

Might be "worth it" but my advice is do not purchase used exhausts.

Remove all the clamps and have it welded, it will be better the long run.

It's not the clamps man, it just doesn't fit. Hits the transmission support bar, two spots on the rear suspension. The passenger side exhaust exit doesn't line up at all.

Just doesn't fit. Gonna in the trash monday.

I have had four S-Tunes systems pass through my garage, none bought new. My last one still owned is on my car and its never given me any issues. The one I put on my son's car two years ago, no problems, the one I sold with my Nismo worked fine for the buyer, and the one I sold open market, no issues from the user - who is on this forum.

Ohhhhhhh, right...... genuine Nissan product.....
