Default Calsonic Kansei Muffler Question

Does anyone know any information about this company or the muffler/catbacks that they make. From what little I've found they're a Japanese company that Nissan used to have stake in that manufactured an array of car parts. I happened to be under my G today and noticed the muffler was stamped with "Calsonic Kansei"

BTW, your use of the word "Jap" can be and is considered a racist term. Please edit this.

Yep, so ridiculous that you had to bump the thread to ask again. And my providing you an answer of who they are and being the only one who TRIED to point you in the right direction. Next time I just won't bother...

Wow, really? I am one of the people here who does NOT make assumptions about anyone and also am one that remembers I was once a teenager; however long ago. I also remember my automotive mentors who tried to help me along without judgement.... so why do you think I'm making an assumption?

I genuinely tried to help you because sometimes in our haste - my own included - the answer is right under our nose and someone pointing it out could conceivably answer a question (or mine if I asked one.) Sure, I may feel silly for not having thought of it first but I say "thank you, duh, I'm a dork" rather than getting offended at being "treated like an idiot" and move on grateful that someone took the time to help me out. Can't please everyone I guess.

I just didn't appreciate the sarcastic reply, I was just looking for a more sincere reply. Thank you though for investing the time to write the reply. You were the ONLY one to reply. VO, STU, Travee, E30cabrio didn't bother to reply, probably didn't even read the post...

My bad.... not meant to sound that way so we should just agree to let it go.

But yes, you're correct that Calsonic Kansei was/is an OEM supplier to Nissan and also invested in by Nissan. S'far as your particular part, I'd surmise that they're just one of the suppliers of exhaust parts to them. Can't imagine anything particularly special about it other than it's got to be durable to meet OEM specs.

Tucker,
Unless for some reason you need an exact duplicate for another car, I think you'd be MUCH happier with an aftermarket catback from one of our sponsors. Look under the Vendor tab.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I'm pretty content with the exhaust that's currently on it. for a stock G37S it sounds pretty decent, I feel that the Calsonic is louder than just a base G37. certainly louder than a stock 370z.
