Default Invidia N1 Exhaust but a bit louder

Hey all. I'm pretty set on getting an Invidia N1 for my 06 350Z. Youtube videos I know don't do any exhaust justice but I want to know id the N1 is definitely louder in person when everything else is stock besides an intake. Is there drone and if so how bad? And is it loud at idle? I'm going for something that I want to be able to hear even when I'm just at idle. I live in Southern California so I can't really get rid of the cats or add headers but maybe a Y pipe but I don't know if that will be worth it. Any advice? Thanks!

So you want loud at idle? Don't you guys have that law that requires it to be under a certain decibel level? If I lived there I would pic an exhaust based on laws and get valves to make it louder/quieter on the fly.

I probably do have that law knowing CA but the cops here don't really care they only bust you for it if you're doing something even more illegal. I just want to know if the Invidia N1 is an exhaust that people would actually consider to be loud. (I'm not into the whole single exit exhaust thing so not gonna choose that)

A friend ran the Invidia with hi flows cats, really sounded nice. You could hear the motor at idle, but not obnoxious.

If I put high flow cats I can still pass emissions, right?

Zero chance. No sniffer and you’ll fail visual. There are NO CARB legal HFCs.

Not necessarily. There are a lot of catbacks that will give him "the sound" without going with test pipes/HFCs, Any N1 based exhaust system is going to much louder than stock. Falling somewhere between stock and a big single. Guy I know has some no-name EBay N1 based dual setup. Sounds OK when pulling or downshifting but he does complain about the drone at highway speeds.

So he drives faster. Hahahaha.
