Default Nismo S Tune on a G35 Coupe

Hello,

Just picked up a S Tune (Weldina) Nismo for a 350z for a steal. I want to put it on my G35 Couple that already has Kinetic HFC and an HR Y-Pipe. I know I need an 8" extension and will likely need to extend the tips out, but how should I address the difference between the HR Y-Pipe and the Nismo S Tune Mid-pipe at 3". Should I try to use a reducer?

I am boosted if that matters as well. Vortech.

Thanks!

Are you against a custom fab'd Y-pipe? Might solve the extension problem and extending the tips problem at the same time.

IMO you should ditch the HR y-pipe for an aftermarket to complete the setup. Either nismo or something similar.

I was hoping that wasn't the answer as I would hate to spend another few hundred on a decent y pipe... somewhat predicted that it may be the answer.

Are the m2 performance pipes no longer being made?

Grabbed a Megan Racing V2 with a 8" exntension. Should mat up nicely to the 3" Nismo midpipe. Sound clips coming soon.

I'm confused. You posted a vid review (two actually) of the S-Tune on your car already, no?

So, uhhh, what exactly are you looking for? Another S-Tune or a midpipe or....????

MicVelo,
well if you read my post the S Tune I have is completely different from the “old” original one you have. The one I have is totally redesigned and made by MXP, totally different sound and design, I prefer the old one that why I am looking for “old “ mid and catback:-)

OK, got it now. So, just to clarify, a true "cat back" is everything aft of the catalysts; meaning, Y-Pipe, Mid-Pipe with resonator, rear muff & tips. Original Weldina S-Tune is all that, whereas the new S-Tune is only the MID-PIPE and rear muff with OPTIONAL Y-pipe.Guessing you already knew this but thought I'd clarify because when you say you also want mid and catback, that's slightly misleading to others shopping. No harm no foul, just clarifying.

Hi MicVelo, thank you very much for your explanation indeed I would like to find a full Weldina cat back (I kinda prefer the old Y too but judging from other post it tend to break)
Do you in US find easily S-Tune exhaust listed ? I check eBay though but rarely see these coming, if you have any recommendations to look at or people who would accept to ship it internationally I am 100% ready to conclude ;-)

another point, what intakes are you using ? I got shocking reply from Motordyne that short ram I have may decrease severely powerband

Original S-Tune come up here and there.

Like here: https://my350z.com/forum/socal-marke...ie-intake.html

However, this one does NOT include the Y-pipe or so it appears. You make your own determination.

But in general, no, they rarely come up. When I bought mine, got it from a forum member here. And then within a month, two more came up and I snatched 'em both. One went with my Z33N when sold, the other, a local sale. Since then, I might have seen 2 or 3 for sale, max.

ALWAYS use support brackets on exhaust. Add them if/where necessary. People don't realize how much resonance and vibration can destroy the exhaust AND contribute to a poor driving experience when NVH enters the cabin. And, don't be that guy who loses or loosens a pipe on the road.

Hi Mic!
this is what i thought, how did you secure your HFC on your G35 then?
i was about to have HFC but i see very few that use the mounting bracket.
i also see a lot report breaking their Y pipe with “floating “ HFC

Not applicable. I have stock cats, stock engine. And honestly, don't have a clue how they're supported since I have never (and will never) do anything with them. I live in California. Too much work and too little gain to put on/take off any modified exhaust cats or TPs every two years for smog check. (Besides, I lived through the "brown air phase" here and love our clean air so frown on smog tampering.)

I was happy to find mine on offerup. $250 for the Weldina without the Y-pipe was a great deal. The Nismo Y pipe was problematic anyways (cracking) and the HR style flows better.
