Default question on injen intake install???

I installed my injen intake yesterday along with an insaneamine grounding kit....I decided to make it a short ram air intake instead of taking the bumper off and running the extension down in front of the radiator...Will it still make similar power???? Do I need to go ahead and finish the install with the extension??? Will it be similar to a Popcharger like I installed it????

Thanks
Russ

I tested mine yesterday without the extension and was a wee-bit disappointed. I decided to re-install my Injen extension back on the car. Definetely nicer RPM climb (at least the ***-dyno says so )

Nissan Lunatic, When you installed your CAI, were you able to get the filter mounted to the bumper? I'm having a lot of difficulty getting it positioned to bolt in place.

When I put mine in. I never put the clip in I just tightened the clamp down real well and had it riding like that for about 7,000 miles now and no problems yet.

When I had mine installed, I used a zip tie to secure it to the grill

Mine mounted perfect. It is very easy to take the bumper off.

I installed my INJEN intake with the bumpe still attached. I have a scar now on my forearm, but it adds character. My fault for the scar, but it is easy to do with bumper still attached. I installed those sidemarkers before with the bumper attached. I like pain, I guess!!!! Now after all of that, I'm installing a NISMO bumper!! Oh well, I love wrenching on my own car.

Default question

I also installed mine with the bumper "ON" no problem but the first concern is the water infiltration if you just happen to be out in the rain. I made my own diverter since INJEN will have you believe that only submerging the filter in water will hurt the engine. Did any of you guys address this problem?

I drove about 1400 miles IN the RAIN, from New Orleans to PA. It rained almost the entire way home. Sometimes it POURED. I had no isses with water at all, and I was cruising anywhere from 45 - 80 MPH

You're the man! I would have been worried the whole time. I had to come up with something that could be taken on and off easily. I went to the local auto parts and bought a clear flat license plate cover used 1" pieces of velcro on each outside edge of the cover (for each grilll bar) and put the "male" part of the velcro on the grill and I can't believe how effective it is. I have to remember it's only for emergencies!

I never said I wasn't worried...

After no issues through the first 150 miles of DOWNPOUR, I assumed everything was going to be OK...

How often do you guys clean your injen filter, i had mine on for 6000 miles so far and it's black on the front and i can see the blue on the back side. But yeah, i mounted the clip and it installed fine without taking the bumper off. I would think you would get the most benefit from the long tube rather than short because it's getting colder air right from the front whereas the pop charger is sucking in some warmer engine bay air too.

I try to c;ean mine every oil change. (By clean I simply mean scraping off any "gunk" and I blow some compressed air from the inside out. IT gets a bunch of dust and crud out of the filter. I also re-install the filter with a different section facing forward.

I am a bit scared to re-oil it though, as some post have been made about excissive oil ruining the MAF sensor...
