Default Random Tech CATS Installation? Problems!! Need help FAST.....

Well I tried to install my RT cats today and after throwing wrenches, cursing and finally giving up here is my question.....

How the hell do you get the top bolts off? I am talking about the 3 bolts connecting to the headers??

Everything else looks simple but those top bolts I don't see how they are coming out.

Does or has anyone done this installation themselves??

Any Help would be appreciated.

I did the install myself...but the bolts seemed to come off very easily on mine. I did use liquid wrench on all the bolts, and let it sit for a while. Have you tried that yet?

OK here's what I did. . .

Remove the suspension carriage - total of 10 bolts 8 14mm & 2 19mm. You will need a breaker bar for the 19's. After you have this out of the way you'll find that you have a lot more access to the header bolts.
For the top bolts you will need @ 2 ft worth of extensions. You can get to them best from up top feeding the extension down on to the cat bolts. For the rest you will need patience a swivel adaptor & some luck.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the quick replies guys....I am not talking about breaking them free the question is more on how to get the socket on the top nuts.... Going from the top also seems difficult.. I guess I will have to take off my Injen cold air intake??

Buff where is the suspension bracket you are talking about?? I took off the bracket but it was only 4 bolts that were 14mm.??

You will find it much easier to get to the top bolt by using the long extension and going from the top as mentioned and yes you will have to remove the intake pipe from the MAF housing to the plenum for the driver's side. The other two bolts can be reached from below. One is pretty easy and the other you can get to with an extension going over the back of the cat. Its much tighter to get the aftermarket cats on then to get the stock ones off.

the key is a 14mm deep socket, and a universal joint on the end of a 2' extension.
