definitely exclusive exhaust that also looks the best! I think someone said they gained 23 with the amuse test pipes, y, and exhaust system. I think stock exhaust cat-back was like 67 lbs, with a SS y pipe and the amuse, you're looking at 30. Now if I only could lose 37lbs.... looks at clock to go to gym but it's already too late

Holden
thats a great price....$1825

so how many do you have for that group buy?

$650 shipped for the Borla. 1 hour self install on jackstands. Probably a 50 lb. weight savings. Finished tips. 15 dyno proven hp with an Injen intake. For my money Borla sounds the best and gives the best gains.

Good luck with this question. Everyone here that has considered changing exhaust has asked the same. There are lots of thread with thousands of opinions on this subject.

The best thing for you do to is put your priorities in a list (price, quality, sound, HP, ect.). Then go to a Z meet with pen and paper in hand. Listen, ride if you can and ask questions. Each exhaust has something unique to offer.

Myself I choose the Stillen for quality fewer parts and excellent fitment. Since my Z is a daily driver I like the quietness it offers at idle and at cruise. One thing I would have done different is got my $100 pop charger first. The Stillen needs the pop charger to get a good exhaust note. Now when I step on it the Z sounds like it means business (in a European sounding sort of way).

we do actually...

borla is 50lbs, stock is 63(I think 63, around there). so you saved 13, not 50... but saved something.

the 10hp is a bit unbeleivable, just above the norm. but if you dynoed at the right time you could help the results along without the exhaust making the full difference.

OK 13 probably because of the extra piping. On the power side, I made 15 hp with the Injen Intake and the Borla... dyno proven:

Love to see guys backup what they say with a dyno chart. Nice gains there!!! What was the time period between dynos and other variables in that graph, like temp and such??

I'll post the chart in a couple days. I back up my statements, I just need to scan the chart.

and btw, you say Sport Z's article was nothing like what I said... but we agree with Sport Z that Borla makes the most power. So how are the article and what I said not alike?
I already stated that these were lightly modded cars to begin with, and that's why the gains were much higher than Sport Z's comparison on stock 350Z's.

P.S. sorry to anyone who cares that I kicked up this somewhat old thread. I hadn't realized until now that someone attacked my statement, and I (as an Ultimate Z employee) will not allow this when I have undeniable proof to back up my claims.

I know this might be a dead issue on this thread but someone mentioned 11lbs being .3% of the weight of the car...well 1hp is just about .3% of the HP of the car. if you calculate it out the stock car has about 11.3lbs per 1HP. which means=adding 11lbs to the car and adding 1HP will not change the power to weight ratio. Therefore reducing the weight of the car by 11lbs is like adding 1HP. It just seems silly to me that people will argue for years about which exhaust potentially makes 1 more hp than another, but 11lbs which is equivelant to 1hp is irrelavant...go figure...

It's very interesting reading these posts. I am use to a car that weighs up to 4800 pounds so owners don't even discuss the issue unless a difference of 10 or 15 HP is involved, or 25 to 50 pounds. The bottom line is, weight savings is weight savings and more power is more power. Combine the two and you can't go wrong. Of course the performance per dollar must be considered as well.

When I was looking for an exhaust I found this chart at www.everthing350z.com. If memory serves me correctly the data comes from an Exhaust Shootout where they changed exhaust and did dynos all the same day. Sorry I'm not good enough at computers to get the chart in this thread.

Cool - thanks. Too late, however, as I just bought a brand new 3" Topspeed Pro 1 exhaust (the most exotic sounding IMHO - $759 retail) including removeable silencers for $365! Gotta love eBay...

Any of the exhausts give very similar gains on the car in NA form

"Any of the exhausts give very similar gains on the car in NA form"

We have not had a chance to test our exhaust without the headers and cat delete pipes so I can not argue this point yet, but with 22 HP over-all increase I think it's safe to say we are near the top of the HP list.

But. we'll see in a few weeks for sure when we can do back to back testing of the stock exhaust and our exhaust.
