I don't believe any of the Injen kits come with a ceramic coated tube. But you can have them done for about $30.00... Definitely the way to go.

It's possible, with a little effort to rework the K&N and eliminate the heat soak problem. That metal filter box is open at the bottom. I fabbed sheet metal and sealed mine and I totally reworked the size of the pipe from the air scoop going into the filter box(went from as small as 2.125" to 3") and I added two more bolts to secure the lid. My system is a sealed ram air that pressurises just like the oem intake.

I ended up wrapping the metal box and upper intake tube with sheet fiberglass insulation and reflective wrap, because uninsulated the temp numbers in town spiked quickly and did NOT come down at all untill you ran 45+ for several blocks. I'd hate to think what numbers I would have gotten if the filter box was open, but I think anyone that has this intake on the Z definately needs to add insulation.

Here's a snap shot of testing numbers over two day's. These are actual temp readings of the intake air at the MAF sensor. Notice that testing was done on the road at speed, in town and includes timed heat soak tests. These are from after I insulated the system. On average the intake air I draw from my K&N 350Z typhon is just +7 degree's to ambiant.

ambiant 99
water 192
intake 123 (idling for several minutes)
intake 107 at .3 miles (all speeds at 65mph)
intake 105 at .9 miles
intake 104 at 2.6 miles
intake 102 at 8.6 miles
water 192
ambiant 99
in town testing starts
intake 109 after 20 sec stop
107 intake at .1 mile from stop
192 water
111 intake after 30 sec stop
107 intake at .2 miles from stop
114 intake after 45 sec stop
109 intake at .2 miles from stop
192 water
116 intake after 1:15 sec stop
107 intake at .2 miles from stop
105 intake at .6 miles from stop

Now today, I added I think more water temp checks and 2 minute soak test's, bringing along a timer

100 ambiant, clear sky's, A/C on
107 intake at 65mph @ 8 mile trip
192 water
pulled off road for 2 minute soak test
111 intake at 2 minutes
113 intake at 3 minutes
194 water
114 intake at 4 minutes
194 water
111 intake at .4 miles from above stop
109 intake at .7 miles from stop
107 intake at 1.7 miles from stop
100 ambiant
195 water
109 intake mileage not noted @ at 5 miles from stop
107 intake mileage not noted @ at 7 miles from stop
ambiant 101
water 195
in town testing begins
114 intake 30 sec stop
111 intake at .2 miles from stop
109 intake at .4 miles from stop
stopped for another heat soak test
111 intake
101 ambiant
194 water
heat soak test in town
123 intake 2 minutes
127 intake 3 minutes
194 water
116 intake at .1 miles since above stop at 45mph
114 intake at .3 miles since stop
113 intake at .4 miles since stop
120 intake 1:15 sec stop
113 intake at .1 miles since stop
111 intake at .4 miles since stop
109 intake at .8 miles since stop

I'd post pics, but this site's vBulletin settings prevent my montypics host from linking. Other vBulletin site's link normally for me.
