Default nismo exhaust nightmare!!!!!

A couple of weeks ago my middle pipe on my nismo exhaust broke. So I had a new one sent to me. I sent the old one back and that costed me $40.00 to send. Installed it myself and it was fine. Then a couple of days later the flex on the "Y" pipe started to rattle on the right side. Now today I heard the exhaust leaking so I brought it to my work and raised it up on the lift thinking maybe a bolt came loose. Not even close the middle pipe broke in the same spot. Brand new pipe still shiny and not even a spec of dust. It has been a total nightmare since I bought this exhaust. I don't know if I should remove the whole exhaust and just send it back to where I bought it or try to put a good weld on the pipe and get a Jic "Y" pipe. I'm really desperate for some opinions.

I thought when you spend $1,000.00 for a exhaust it should last more then a year.

Wow, sorry you are having a bad experiance with this exhaust.

Mine bolted right up, perfect fit, and only took me 25 minutes with a lift. It still perfect with no problems. Also, the welds on it are some of the best I have ever seen.

Personally, I would go to your Nissan dealer, as this exhaust should be covered under your warranty, or at least go back to the place you purchased the exhaust from. I had some MINOR problems with mine rattling at first, but now, no problems. I love my exhaust and would not hesitate purchasing it again. Good luck!!

I think Nissan does warranty Nismo parts cept for the R-tune stuff. I hope they don't give U BS like "It's your fault, U didn't install it right". Good Luck.

Take a look at your motor mounts. Check to see if they're loose or worn. I highly doubt it on a new car, but you never know.

Usually at work, if the same car keeps coming back to the shop with a bad flex pipe, their motor mounts are loose or worn out. They'll keep breaking from the motor moving too much.

The same thing just happened to me tonight only I have no idea what is leaking. This is the second time I have had an exhaust leak and both were after a redline run. I just put the car up on the BS car jack in my underground garage and I cant find a thing. All my bolts are tight and it seems like all the welds are good. Any suggestions would help.

No problems with my Nismo exhaust, although I did jack it up and look at the welds last weekend after reading some of these threads - - but I'm good - - good luck, I hope you get yours resolved.

The warranty on NISMO parts is only valid when a dealer installs it, not when it's self-installed. If you bought it through a dealer you might get a "defective part" coverage and they would swap it out. You won't get a warranty to coverage installation, rattling, etc.

My problem is my Infiniti dealer is unable to warranty my exhaust because Nismo requires an actual Nissan dealer to do the install to get warranty replacement or work. I of course didn't know this when I had it installed!!

I asked my Nissan dealer if I could install it and still have it covered for warranty and they said it was not a problem.

I had the same problem after installing Test Pipes, I think the Test Pipes caused some fitament issues putting the exhaust a slight bind. Take it to a good welder that can weld Stainless and that will definitley cure your problem.

Can you post a pick with it installed on the car? It would be nice to see where the break is.

I believe if you install it yourself, it has a standard 1 year "parts" warranty. That is, NISMO will replace a defective part but you're still responsible for removal, installation, shipping, etc.

When the dealer installs it, you get a 3 year warranty for parts, labor, etc. just like any other Nissan factory installed part/option.
