Default Just received Kinetix V.3 plenum

Alright, so here are my initial observations.

The plenum is much more solid than my previous V.2 plenum. The plastic is thicker and feels stronger. My last one flexed some under it's own weight while I held it, this one doesn't at all. It feels alot more substantial than my V.2.

There is increased bracing on the inside. (O = plenum support holes, I = internal plastic bracing, p = regular plastic.)

V.2.
ppppp I ppppp
ppppp O ppppp

ppppp I ppppp
ppppp O ppppp
ppppp I ppppp

V.3.
pppp I pppp

The material is considerably thicker around the support holes and the cork gasket and supports are alot larger as well. (3/4 inch from 1/2 inch on V.2.)

The gasket around the front support is now sitting on plastic that is level with the metal support, and the plenum secures to the metal supports with a bolt and washer instead of the beveled bolt on the previous model. The metal supports are alot thicker as well,

The bolt hole just in front of the throttle body mount is now countersunk so that you don't need a longer bolt.

The inside of the intake is also now perfectly smooth, not like my V.2 which required some sanding on my part around the throttle body area.

The plenum is about 1lb heavier. (5.5 pounds) and is thicker along the edges where it bolts down.

Overall, it looks like a much improved product, which it should be since it will be rated up to a certain PSI.

Unfortunately, I'm remodeling my garage right now, but hopefully tomorrow I'll get a chance to put it on.

Why do you go from V.2 to V.3? Did your other one crack in the middle or are you going to FI?

great to hear that someone finally got their's - I've been waiting for people to get the new version and give some insight after installation and get some driving impressions before I go ahead and place my order... but I've been pretty much sold on the idea from the beginning (just needed to let the kinks work themself out)

Good luck w/ the new plenum - enjoy!

Yeah, your welcome for me being the guinea pig!

Yes, my V.2 cracked. I ordered my V.2 probably almost 3 months ago now. I've been waiting for the V.3 for about, well, I guess 3-4 weeks now. They are a small company, and they've been working overtime to redesign the plenum and make replacements for cracked V.1 and V.2's. When they redesign, they don't fill any orders until the new version is out. This is good because you only get the newest version. (even if you ordered V.2, they'll give you a V.3) It just takes a little longer, but I think it's worth the wait to get a better part.

I would suggest that you make a inquiry to: jamisonl@msn.com
Kinetix "Customer Service" is great and your e-mail will get a reply. Every e-mail I have ever sent has gotten a response!

Just got the word that mine is in the mail. Hopefully, I will have it Monday or Tuesday. At this point, I should be able to get the third one on in 20 minutes.

I think I too have a V3 plenum-- got it and installed it about 2 weeks ago. It runs very well and sounds downright nasty!!!
Install was quite simple!!!
Just checked it the other night cuz I *thought* perhaps the idle was erratic..... No noticible cracks on throttle flexing..... but one thing was a little wierd--- all of the bolts were quite loose. The car was hot from a 1 hr. drive so that was probably the culprit. So I tightened em down. No other problems at all!!!!
I love my Kinetix plenum!!!

I just checked my (second) V2 and it developed a crack just like my first one did (center front screw). I already e-mailed Luther at Kinetix, hopefully I will get V3 quickly. Don't get me wrong I love my Plenum. I hope V3 has all thee bugs worked out! I discovered it after checking for leaks after installing my Fujitsubo exhaust tonight. I will post on my exhaust install right now, very nice!

How are you guys figuring out if you have a crack? Just getting 2 people and one check while one pressing the gas?

Or does it make some kind of sound/whistle?

i heard a whistle as soon as i opened my hood one night. very noticeable, even though it is a very small, hairline crack.

With I engine running, look "forward" of the center forward screw. The crack opens up when the engine is running.

Also, remember that the max strain is placed on the plenum at idle. So if it flexes, it will flex in at idle and then return to its native form when you press the accelerator.

Got my V3 plenum yesturday. My car has to go in for warranty work tomorrow so I hav not installed it yet. I will post a review once I get my car back and I install the plenum ( same day, I hope tomorrow but doubt it )

Deffinitly looks like a quality product, and I hope I feel this mod unlike my others.

Did you put the locktight on each skrew? And also, did you let the car sit for an hour before starting it like they say to do so the locktight can cure?

Glad to see your happy with it! Can't wait to install mine.

Default Just received Kinetix V.3 plenum

Just wanted to let everyone know........
I own a Kinetix plenum version 2......no problems whatsoever
I contacted Kinetix about a V.3 when I found out about it being rated for PSI....and the problems with V.2 cracking
The response I got was almost immediate and I was notified that a V.3 would be out to me next Tuesday.
Their customer support is top notch and I love the way they handle their customers...
No one should have any doubts about doing business with them.

Thanks again Kinetix

If you bought a v2 and it cracked (or didn't) is Kinetix replacing it for free?
