Default Digimoto and CAI

Now that several of us have in car PC's and the Digimoto ODBII readers I thought it would be good to get some firm data on different Cold Air Induction systems.

If you have the digimoto please take your 350Z out for a little test and log the following info at 60 MPH after your thermostat has opened:

Outside Air Temperature (according to the 350Z multi function gauge) = 57F

Coolant Temperature = 203F

Inlet air temperature = 90F

I will do another run tomorrow as it is unusually cold in Dallas today.

I have the AEM CAI, so we need a INJEN, Nismo, Factory Stock and any others to post as well.

This is a great idea, at least we'll have a little objective info once it's logged.

OK here are my readings with an INJEN CAI and a Street Scene Grill in case that makes a difference.

OAT measured 80
Coolant temperature 192
Speed 60
Gear 3rd
RPM's 4500
Timing Advance 40
Intake Temperature 86
MAF Airflow 30 (it was higher when I first got to 60 probably due to accel but after being at 60 it settled around 30)

off the top of my head I was doing 74mph on the highway in 6th gear. 84degrees and full sun. black car.

intake temp was around 90degrees.

Ill double check that and get the coolant temp as well, cause if thats true I had the same intake temp as you on a 30degree warmer day, though I was doing 15mph faster.

100% completely and totally stock intake across the board.

Id suppose the difference would perk up a bit if we were to compare idle temps, where mine have tipped over 140degrees on that same day in traffic.

Ok, I've never seen digimoto output before, but I'm certainly intrigued. Now, stupid question, but is the displayed timing advance the actual degrees before TDC for the ignition? I would think so, but I never realized the Z advanced it THAT much!

I think it is the actual degrees, if it helps at idle it is around 16-18

I had mine advanced by the dealer, so I guess it does stay and not get changed back bythe ECU as speculated earlier.

hot out here but numbers look good compared to above.

polished injen/pop charger full cai hybrid

outside temp = 90F
Air Inlet Temp = 95F
Speed = 60 MPH
RPM around 4400-4500 in 3rd gear.

six speed manual.

how about we run a test to see what lets in more air per cubic foot?

mine was all over the charts but under heavy acceleration it climbed as high as 122 +.

what numbers did you guys get?

So far it looks like the INJEN is running cooler (even though yours is hybrid) or maybe it is the Plenum

but isn't this sensor that reads the air before the plenum?

Yes it is I was being funny, but maybe the new plenum helps such more air in so it is faster and cooler, I don;t know!!

But I think the fact that the filter is down at the grill in both of ours is making a difference.

ran it today, evening around 7pm, still light out but only 74degrees and cloudy.

working on graphing a log, been going at it for an hour, but excel seems to not want to graph RPMs... too much data for it or something.

this is impossible to sort. I have no clue why but I have 2x as many RPM points as anything else, and no 2 same amounts of the other values.

rather wierd since it takes them one after the next, or so I thought. wierd.

idle timing is 15-16 I was wrong, went as low as -5 and as high as 43

coolant temp started at 160(didnt log from the very start. and it hit 190 at the very end of the trip.

MAF is around 5.5 at idle, dipping into the upper 4's at times.

had 51 a few times, than a single reading of 88 and another of 151 I can only assume these are mistakes.
