Which Exhaust Makes The Most HP?
Wanted to know if anyone knows which exhaust makes the most hp? Which one weighs the lightest? I am looking at the Stillen and Invidia2 right now trying to decide. I look at the greddy one but it seems like its only about sounds and looks. The only one that I have seen putting the real power down is the stillen but the only draw back is it is heavy.
there is only ~1hp diff betweent the borla, injen, and stillen with the injen being the lightest, borla having a stock like tone, and stillen having the best gains. its really a matter of preference and price, you cant go wrong with any of those

in real world dyno's...
INJEN will make most on a NA Car with one or two mods more then the exhaust...
and the more mods you have the more power you will make out of thhe others...
the other exhuasts that are mid pipe - muffler only (not including y-pipe) do not make much HP at all until the Y-pipe is changed...
all exhausts instock; nismo / stillen / fujitsubo / injen / apexi / greddy / tanabe

It seems like you are just trying to sell one of your exhausts, I have seen many people make more hp with just exhausts with other companys then injen. The injen exhaust looks like two big mufflers off a honda and sounds like it two. I have seen and heard someone around Va with it on there Z and they regret getting it. They said they could not tell a difference in power from it and the stock. Also have someone around here with the stillen exhaust and it gives it a nice deep tone that sounds muscale car like. But want to know what about the new invidia exhaust? Anyone have the old one and like it?
nice thing about jason at performance is; yes he's trying to sell one of his exhausts, but he sells them all. except invidia, but that wouldnt be on my list...
he sells the major ones with the exception of borla(whats up with that jason?).
either way, as was said, borla is quietest, least torque gain. stillen, most power, great sound, heavy as a brick. injen, middle of the road power, lightest, loud, appearance is hit or miss with people.
when choosing your exhaust, just forget about power, their all the same.
the true lightest exhaust will be one of the titanium setups, but thats probably not in your price range. of the "normal" exhausts, they are most all around the same with the exception of stillen.

I sell Invidia... but when I talk to customers to help them find the best exhaust for them... it ends up not being the one for them....
2 reasons I dont sell borla... #1 the amount of time our service department spends getting rattles and leaks out... #2 less time explaining what to check for and fix with them on the phone... oh and #3... Im not set up to deal borla products...... maybe I should... but... I prefer to sell products that I can 100% stand behind... and I wish I could say I could stand behind it like I can the NISMO...
I tell alot of customers the best thing for them will be to upgrade their Y-Pipe and just get a new muffler like the Greddy SP2... I also tell alot that the NISMO will be best for them since it is a full cat back and looks stock and sounds just louder then stock... I also tell customers since they are planing on running a turbo they should get either a large diamater true dual exhaust or a single midpipe exhaust with the JIC Y-Pipe and atleast a 80mm mid pipe (like nismo or tanabe)...
But I always tell people that the exhaust wont make your car pull on an M3... it is more for sound and style more then performance...
Tell me what you are looking for in an exhaust and I will help you find it...
the exhausts I sell I can stand behind and tell you there are NO fitment problems and NO leaks when installed proplerly...

At first everyone was raving over Invidia 1 exhaust. Now I can't get a single straight answer that I want. I think the way it goes with exhausts up this forum is that which ever one the person has is always going to be the one they tell me to get. I was telling you that I do not want to get the injen exhaust because of the honda sound (not even near muslce car sound, moms got a gt mustang and it sounds nowhere near the rumble, maybe like a zing, zing, rumble). I have heard good things about stillen, invidia, HKS, ts, and a couple others, but just to keep it cheap people tell me to get injen, sp2, and a couple others. I want something that is TRUE DUAL, not say that it is and not be. No y-pipe when I can get a full exhaust system. So far it seems like I will go with the new invidia 2 because of the look, sound, titatium tips, and the price is better then most others with this performance. Wanted the HKS full titatium exhaust, but no one has it yet and it is a risk to take for $2000 when I can get something that looks almost same for $1000. Stillen is the next choice on my list if Invidia fails. Sorry to talk bad about injen but not my cup of tea with the sound and performance I have seen from it on a car around my way.
Not sure what you meant by "TRUE DUAL" but that is what the Injen is. Just clarifying and I realize the sound is not everyones favorite, but after some HF cats, headers, plenum and intake are added to the car,
i excited about the new jic tual exaust that hooks up to the jic y pipe, it makes an x evvect and i saw pictures of it and they had some s bends in it, sweet+torque= what about my stock diffuser? someone needs to make one, i volunteer my car for testing once its fixed. haha. Also i hear 5 zigen pro-racer x tube gives 30 hp peak up top (funny right when torque drops off so its not as usable and misleading) but gadual gains and about 15 hp at the sweet spot. but its single outlet, kinda weird lookin crx/celica /topsecret eaust muffler. But what about diffuser, Cheston is making one for his car modeled avter the stock muffler.
the straight answer is nobody really likes the invidia exhaust for hp gains.....sounds good but thats about it....not very significant gains.....you didnt ask about sound...you asked about hp
maybe its just not what you want to hear so you dont want to see the straight answers everyone has given
you asked at the header of this thread "which exhaust makes the most hp?"
everyone in here has told you the same thing ....stillin injen and borla.....i have the borla myself.....come on down to richmond and you can see and hear it and decide for yourself

ps i once kicked the crap out of a z with a lip kit , rims and stillen exhaust after 80 mph, i have a performance model but i purchased the track pakage rear diffusers, their 40 bucks and they fit inside holes in the rear bumper, i bought them from my nissan dealer. anyways he didn't have those and on top of that his stillen exhaust eliminated his muffler/diffuser so he was suckin after 80 and at 120 it was wover, it seemed like he was stuck in sand. I beat him by 3 cars. he kep challengeing me over and over, i just let him go, and later i saw a cop so i'm lucky ididn't race him a third time. I hate it when people can't stand defeat, just lose already man/ aha sorry if i sound like an idiot, i am recovering form bottom out idous, i cought it from my shocks.
I know I am looking for hp gains, and I know that the injen is true dual. All I said is that I like the way the invidia sounds. Also like the new injen style with the straight tips but cannot find out how it sounds. The only one I have ever heard is the one that looks like two big mufflers in the back. I want the most hp, but would like to find out from other people too other then just the same people posting over and over that they love injen. I heard your answer and am glad you responded, but let other people respond what they like too. Just don't ruin my thread posting three or four times that you like injen when I heard you the first time. I agree that injen makes some nice hp from what injen says, but do you have any dyno sheets that says it makes it? Also I said I like the stillen, but not borla because people saying they have been having problems. Just want other answers from other people, so please post your answer and thats all. No fighting over which ones better. Just please post and thank you for your results. Now if you want to post some dyno sheets, I would be very glad and thank you for it.
biggest true HP gain i have seen was around 30 HP/TQ with the new greddy evo exhaust, but consider that this was on a twin turbod Z, so opening up the exhaust is a much bigger difference than on our normally aspirated engine.
Also if you are looking for certain aspects for a system, but it seems like none of them have it all in one package, consider doing a custom job, that is exactly what i did. I wanted to do a true dual, so i looked to see which true dual exhaust was making the most power. Apparently stillen has been proven to make the most HP (although weighs a ton) so i had a shop fabricate piping from the after the cats all the weigh back to replace my Y pipe, mid pipe, and mufflers and tips. We used an X pipe and 2.5" piping all the way to the mufflers just like the stillen. But i also like the HUGE exhaust look, and i really like the cannister style look rather than the horizontal muffler that sits flush with the rear, so i ordered 2 HKS Carbon/Ti mufflers, with a 3" inlet and 4" outlet. Also when putting a cannister style muffler on the end, you have to take into account that there is an emissions box that blocks the passengers side outlet. I went with the HKS carbon wrapped mufflers because in that way i could remove part of the heat sheild to create space for the muffler, but at the same time, carbon fiber absorbs heat, so that eliminates the original intent of the heat shield, which was to keep the exhaust heat away from the emissions box. It truelly does absorb heat, after running hard i have gotten out and put my hand on the carbon fiber and it was only slightly warm, then touched the tips and almost burned my hands. BTW, it sounds amazing, i still havnt posted a clip but i hope to get around to it soon. Here's a pic of what the end result looks like
If you wanna see more pics, like underneath the car and stuff check out this slideshow of my exhaust pics - http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...1&gid=3910057&
