...I just put the Helix test pipes on. They sound great with my Borla TD. No rasp. Sounds more like a v8 than a v6.

just purchased the RTs. MAN O MAN DO I LOVE THESE THINGS. they make the stock exhaust sound alot more agressive. they take awhile to heat up and can be raspy when cold, but once they heat up THEY ARE SWEET!

are you going to gut them and run them like test pipes, or are you still under the 2 year warranty?

Another documented failure here:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=77767

This one is from a vendor. With so many failures, why would anyone even consider R/Ts?

The crawford cat are made by walker. The kinetix cats are made by carsound/magnaflow. The crawford cats fit good from what I heard, but the kinetix do not. Don't forget about ultimate, the are carsound cats that fit well.

The reason why people consider RT is because there the best. Just because a few guys have broken units doesn't mean nothing. Unless you know the amount they sold than its ridiculous to talk bad about them. They probably sold more cats than Crawford. Crawford don't even design there own cats. RT is the BEST, besides test pipes. Its been tested before and it came out top dog. Seems like alot of people in here work with Doug or have a friendship with him, that is why they are misleading other consumers into purchasing a product that is not superior. Bad Karma.

i have heard this also, from friends who run bigger bader beasts, (like supercharged vipers and nomads with 900 whp) that rts were two words "the best" no doubt the crawfords are awesome cats as well, but the problems people have with the collapse are due to not properly warming up the car before you use/gun the engine. the people with collapsed cats have probably at least once reved their engines when the system was cold, depsoiting fuel into the ceramics in the cat. this over time this rots the cats (any cats) and they collapse.

finally i also agree with my man mac here about the limited number of complaints, no one is going to talk about how much they love them and how they work so well (- me lol) but they sure as day are going to complain to anyone and everyone the second something goes wrong. i would be really curious to see the figures on these cats, and their sales, not just on Z's but all vehicles, and then compair the number of failed units to the numbe of people running these every day.

I had the RT cats on my car for 6 months. Yes, I spent more $ for RT because they were rated #1 in airflow. I even overlooked the poor fitment and raspy sound. However, when it came to reliability I had to put my foot down. When my RT cats failed they offered me another set and I declined. After doing some more research on these cats, I found that numerous Nissan engines have caused RT failures. I am not even including the 12 documented cases on 350Z's. How many Crawford failures? ZERO!
To me a superior product is reliable. Some RT cats failed after only 2K miles. How is that superior?

So I may loose 2-3rwhp? At 400+rwhp I doubt I will even know the difference. At least I know they will last, sound better and fit perfectly.

You don't have to work for Doug to state the obvious...

I do not work for Crawford but I use all of their products. Headers, polished plenum and cats. The fastest Z's do too. Don't knock a product or vendor until you try them...

Right on whosdady

IMO - Use what works, not what doesn't. R/Ts break. Crawfords don't. It's as simple as that. I owe no allegiance to Doug, except that the stuff I buy from Crawford works.

You only say that because you have to justify your purchase.

Your comments don't help anyone as you have nothing to base them on. Do you own a 350Z? Do you have RT cats? If you answered yes to the following questions, I would suggest you jack your car up and see if they are still good. If they are good, plan on checking them every once in a while when your car feels a little weaker than normal. If you answered no, I would stop posting on this thread as you lack experience to be helpful.

This is a forum where people share experiences about their 350Z, the good, bad and the ugly. The RT situation is getting ugly. If you were more familar with other companies you would know that Crawford has a glowing reputation amongst Z owners. RT is losing credibility on a daily basis. Not just with Z owners but also with other Nissan owners. If you don't beleive me check out any Maxima or Altima web site. There is a lot of information on maxima.org

IMO one would be crazy to buy RT cats for their Z with the current number of failures popping up each day. The biggest problem is that RT doesn't have an answer for those whos cats failed. All they do is ask if you want another set. If those go bad you are on your own. $500+ shipping for the cats, cost of install, down time, ect and you may lose all of that before you realize that there are better, more reliable cats for our car. I chose Crawford. They have had no problems. It was an easy choice. They flow and fit better than the other options.
