Default Kinetix plenum

Only time will tell if the design changes will prevent the cracking that occurred with the earlier designs.. I installed about 100 miles ago and my initial observations are that it seems quite rigid with little flexing as was seen on the earlier models..The two center support bolts seem to have at least double if not more the surface area of earlier models which will reduce the localized stress levels and the attaching screws now have washers under them to further spread the load..My previous V2 model cracked at the forward bolt..Overall I am optimistic that this design,if installed properly will not have the same fate of earlier versions..P.S I put lock washers under every perimeter bolt as well as the two center bolts for extra security against them loosing up..

I'd like to see if my V3 will hold up this summer through all the heat cycles, track and autox events I will put it through. I put it on about 300 miles ago and there were about 60 track miles to 135 mph, I've checked it and it is still strong. Much better reinforcement, and no flex. But we'll see how well it goes as it gets more usage.

put it on a couple weeks ago; no crackin that i've notice. i should spray some tb cleaner around the thing to see if there is a drop in idle. i don't hear anything when i pop the hood though. i do have my engine cover and strut bar off. either one was rubbin the plenum no matter what we did. oh well; weight reduction, right?

had my version ONE on since, what earlier Feb. late January? Still no cracking and absolutley the best add on mod for power on my car.

see sig for all mods.

Honestly, I can see how alot of these cracked because of production flaws (if they existed) but I see most cracking because people put too much muscle into the tightening when they put them on. If that was not the case, how come my version one is still FINE!!!!!

well, when everyone's v2's were crackin at the front support post, that was definitely a design flaw.

I think someone said it was "user install error" that caused the v2 cracked.. yeah right!

How in the world did you put 4000 miles on a V3 ? They've only been out a short time. You must have a long commute to work?
Thanks Mike

Ditto! Are you sure you don't have the V2? That is a lot of driving given the time that the V3 has been out! People in the past thought they had V3 when in fact they had V2.

I agree with the others here, I think you have a V2. I was on my car pretty hard at the track and I checked the V3 and it was all good. Brainerd track has a long straightaway and I floored it all the way to 125-135 at least 20 times.

ive had all three versions because of cracking
im one of the kinetix pioneers it seems

the version 3 has lasted the longest

but kinetix is aware of it here is the email he sent me....

Sorry to hear about that, and I undertand your frustrations as this has also
been frustrating for us as well.

We are taking a new approach to the entire center support post and we are
doing testing in the next couple days. We are trying to avoid the whole
mount through the center of the plenum, as it causes a high stress point and
drilling it makes that area a weak point.

Please give me an email on wednesday and I should have some news for you, as
well as some options for you to decide over.

ill take a pic but i dont have a digi cam so it may be a few days before i can get it developed

but to explain it ...it is a crack in the front center support...it is directly in the center and runs under my strut tower bar

can only see it when it is running.....i check it a couple times a week...and i was pretty heart broken to find the crack
