there was a thread, one was painted by a member/painter, another by just a DIY guy. they both turned out cool. the professional job looked incredable.

Zpresence has painted the kinetix plenum. He is over on 350zfrenzy.com. Nice professional job using high temp paint.

Default Painted Kinetix.........

Rob (ZPRESENCE on 350ZFrenzy.com) actually scrapped the idea of the "chrome" paint on the Kinetix plenum - the mirrachrome paint did not end up adhering very well on the surface of the plenum due to the oil content of the plastic used - would never totally dry and he wasn't satisfied with the finish. He stripped the Mirrachrome and re-did it in high black gloss. Here's a shot of the finished black.............

That's because you have to wipe your plenum down with paint thinner before you paint it. I couldn't even get the tape to stick while trying to tape it off before I wiped it down.

Do you think that the new Kryon Fusion spray paint (specially made to work on plastic) work on Kinetix plenum?

About $5 a can, cheap.

Default Paint..........

Nope - wiping down wasn't the problem with the Mirrachrome paint...it was the makeup of the paint itself - continually "drew" the oils out of the material. Standard hi-temp paint, etc. seems to work fine (as you can see from the above post & pic). You can check with the painter himself on this: ZPRESENCE on 350Zfrenzy.com. A true professional, he worked on the plenum with the Mirrachrome for several weeks and had several problems due to the makeup of the paint.

I'm thinking about painting my V3 to match my Engine covers (Red). Although that chrome looks pretty sweet.

Hmmmmm.... decisions decisions.

I'm can't see how the paint will stay on those V2's without cracking. The v2's flex...alot. I like the look but even the V3 has some flex.

The amount of flex is minimal. I don't think it would be a problem.

i don't think you would have to mask off the letters. just paint the high temp into a cup or bowl, and then brush it on. i do it all the time with models, though a model is really different from a car. however, the paint would probably work brushed on too
