Default Prototype Y-Pipe in development!

Prototype Y-Pipe currently on my car and in development. Will be tested on a dyno soon. Our design is a one off piece designed to yield top end horsepower and midrange torque. I can say from off-the-butt dyno, from 3000 rpm it starts to pull (sounds stock). Then 3500 rpm and up to 4000 rpm it just rips! And at 5000 rpm on up it starts to scream and emits sounds similar to an Apex'i N1 exhaust.

Piping is 2.5" from cat and ends with a 3" collector.

Dyno coming soon...

Soundclip soon to follow...

How much are you trying to sell it?

At the present time, if this piece makes good power, we will market at a price that will beat all competition. And again, if our piece makes the power we hope for (top end and midrange), the final product could end up in stainless steel. Right now it's all speculation and hopes until I get it dyno'ed.

The current pictures is the Y-Pipe on a G35 (my personal car). If all goes well, we'll be making it both for the G35 and 350Z respectively. Thanks and more to follow as development progresses.

When is your estimated date of completion (when do you think you may start selling these) Also, can I be put on a list and contacted when they are ready?

Does it sound like a raspy fart pipe, since there is no "silencer".

So what you are making replaces the y-pipe and mid-pipe portions of the stock exhaust, correct? I would definitely be interested... I could hook it up to a GReddy SP2 axle-back muffler and be good-to-go!

No ETA on this Y-Pipe yet. The decision will be made after the dyno tests and the amount of interest.

At 4.5 - 5K you hear a little raspyness, but good raspyness that is. No fartlike noises. Have you ever heard the Apex'i N1 exhaust on a 350Z??? I think there was a soundclip of it on this forum somewhere...

Yes, replaces Y-Pipe and mid pipe that goes to the muffler. This completely removes the stock resonator before the muffler.

why don't you slap on some test pipes/HF cats and tell us how it sounds then - most people interested have purchased or will purchase these items to complete their exhaust and would be interested to hear your feedback on that

This Y-Pipe is the first in development.

We are also looking in to the possibility of making some test pipes of our own. I will look in to it (test pipes) and respond back with sound and performance.

If and when it's ready for market, we're looking at a price that will beat all of the competition and 350Z members will get a discount for sure.

I have a couple questions:

1) I have a Tanabe exhaust and all I need is the Y-Pipe, do you plan on making a y-pipe only section?

2) Any plans on headers?

3) ADD ME TO YOUR LIST!

It will definetly need ecu tuning. Might be more compatible with the new 300 hp Z since it has exaust side valve timing that provides a lot of its backpressure at low rpm's. The current 350z's back pressure is dependant heavily on exaust. Probably an even better mod with other mods, like plenum and ts ecu reflash making the car more tracktable at higher rpm's.
