AEM + Texas Rain = Dead Z

Now wat you need to do is handmake a heatshield/ channel from the intake hole to the intake itself. If you do you will have something as (if not more) effective than the JWT pop charger!
G'luck!
Yeah, I've been thinking about that. I saw in another post or maybe even another forum, this guy did a similar thing, only instead of attaching the filter to the bottom of the MAFS, he put about a 1" pipe between the two that way the filter would go all the way down to the intake hole under the hood.
Is that what you meant?
P.S. Screw AEM damnit. $200 intake and now to protect my car I'm using about $50 of it. Unless of course I want to purchase ANOTHER piece from them just to make it safe for my car. Bad business, I think they should make it safe in any driving condition that may come up, from the store. Oh well, live and learn...it all worked out now.

Wow, that was some good luck avoiding hydrolock. In your particular case, it wouldn't have mattered what intake you used or even if you used the water bypass for the AEM/NISMO you still would have sucked in water. You said that the water was coming over the hood which would have put any intake under the hood submerged or at the water line. Maybe it's time to go get a snorkle intake off a Jeep or a Hummer.
Inferno. Take my advice, and have your car towed to a dealership and have them inspect your car so you're 100% sure there's no water in it. It's better to spend a couple hundred now and be 100% safe, then sorry later.
I had a VW GTI 1.8T, and I was in a similar situation as yours, well I drove it fine, and one month later. BOOM! the mechanic said that my rod was partially bent and it caused the piston to shoot out of the wall of my block one month later.
7 Grand later. I say **** cold air intakes. Because its just not worth the risk.
I live in Houston, so I know EXACTLY how you feel about the weather.

Oh crap...that sucks man.
I had myself convinced that the reason that it died and wouldn't move very fast was cause the MAFS had water on it. Kinda like when I installed the damn intake, but forgot to plug the MAFS back in...was behaving exactly the same. I saw minimal evaporated drops of water around the throttle body, so I don't think very many made it up that far....let alone through the plenum.
I think if it craps out in a month or so, I'll throw the stock airbox back on there and play dumb. Think that'll do it?

You could try that inferno. I told myself the same thing too hehe. I told myself the water that got sucked up and stalled my engine evaporated due to the heat in the turbo . LOL. Then right when I wasn't suspecting when i was cruising with my friends. BOOM.
Then again my friend who had his integra stall in water like 5 times (seriously) still drives his car to this day.
I just don't want to see you in my situation.
I did have a check engine light during that month. I'm assuming you don't have one. Good Luck!
