Default Need major help here with the plenum

Hey guys, I'm gettin really frustrated here. After I saw the crack in the Kinetix Plenum, I pulled it off immediately but things can never go right. I don't know how to get the two supports off that are underneath the plenum (the short and the long supports provided by kinetix)...they are on there tight and I dont know how to get them off. Can someone please help me cuz im bout to flip.

Use Vise Grips or Channle Locks on the 1/2" alum standoffs. If the 2 studs remain, install 2 nuts to the studs and unscrew the studs.

Ok, i just go the other support off. The studs are still in there...so Jsn350z, you're saying that i should put 2 nuts around the studs and fully tighten them and then unscrew the studs? do i use a wrench, i dont wnna wear the threading. Thanx for your help everybody.

No, you do not tighten them to the bottom. You get two nuts and put them on, probably the closer to the top the better so you have space to grab them both with wrenches, and then you tighten the two nuts togther and keep on turning once they are tight. It should take the two studs out. Same damn sh*t happened to me.

HELL NO I did not keep it. I had more then one problem with more then one product form them ( although great service was recieved ) so I just gave up.

IMO, go CRAWFORD! Some people wont agree with me, some people will. But IMO, it's just not worth the headach it is causing you right now. EVEN with later version there will ALWAYS remain that "chance" of a crack or some other misfortune. The crawford unit on the other hand is bullet proof, may cost more, but worth it.

And no problem, glad I could help someone out that is having the same thing happen to them that happened to me.

I on the other hand, had to run around the neighborhood asking people if they knew how to get them out. That is how I leanred to do this.

Almost fainted when I heard that damn crack.

You tighten them both up really tight next to each other. While you are STILL tightening them together, move EVERYTHING left to loosen the stud.

Sorry, I really do not know how else to explaine it.

Ok i got one off...and I'm workin on the other and through this I have decided that I'm not gonna f'in deal with the kinetix plenum again. Now you say the Crawford costs more, but in what way? I see on their site that it costs 395, are u sayin this because u dont get to keep ur stock strut and stock plenum?? Because if those are the only 2 reasons, i say f it, im not gonna spend hours removing and reinstalling this damn plenum.

$395 for just the plenum? I though it use to be 500ish or so.. Infact, $500 IS what strictly Z charges and I think Crawford use to have it listed for $427 or something, guess they lowered the price.

But yeah, if you still want a STB you need to buy that too. IMO worth the extra money just for the peace of mind that you get with the crawford part.

That happened to me too. I just used some RoboGrips to get the studs out. Those Robogrips are the best tool I've ever purchased.

One problem with Crawford, (and I think they have a great product) is that if you get an SC, they're strut bar won't fit. So I'm really hoping v4 solves all of these little cracking problems.

Even if it does solve the cracking issues I still doubt it will hold up to FI. Besides, if you go FI who needs a plenum anyways.
