Y-Pipe Installed Photos with Dyno Results
Hello to all 350Z owners,
Thank you all for the supports and responses we have received regarding our Y-Pipe Prototype Dyno and Test Fitting Project. With the help from some members we were able to provide the result on the Dyno Chart below for your reference.
The project took place in a very well reputable facility; North Shore Auto Salon and they are located in Great Neck, NY. The test was performed with the Dynojet machine and the weather condition was between 75 to 80 Degrees. The 350Z we used is a COMEPLETE stock 2003 Touring 6MT Model with approximately 20k miles on the vehicle.
We ran the car stock with NO modifications done to the vehicle and the results are as follows;
Run 1 ¡V 232hp
Run 2 ¡V 237hp
Run 3 ¡V 235hp
Avg ¡V 235hp
After test fitting and installation of the Y-Pipe, the results are as follows;
Run 1 ¡V 245hp
Run 2 ¡V 250hp
Run 3 ¡V 247hp
Avg ¡V 247hp

We will have a GroupBuy Program shortly on these Y-Pipes, detailed pricing and availability will be posted as well.
According to David (Onwer of the Dyno Shop who is also an expert at tuning all types of vehicles) the Y-Pipe improved the Air/Fuel Ratio greatly, and that is also why there is a decent amount of gain.
Disclaimer: Unlimited Tuning has done its best to provide as much information as we can on our Y-Pipe. However, we can not guarantee the amount of horsepower each vehicle will gain. According to the latest Sport Compact Car Magazine, August 2004 issue on page 200; ¡§Every dyno company claims its dyno is precisely calibrated to measure real, accurate horsepower, but experience suggests that every company calibrates with different sized horses. Your only defense against this is to understand the nature of the problem.¡¨

not going to put any commenets on the gain.
if its true, then thats a really great gain.
in that case, i wonder how much more hp u can gain from a muffler and test pipe.dont think there are much rooms for it!

The Y-Pipe leaned up the fuel curve significantly. On the first run, it was way too rich for an N/A car. I honestly am not surprised with the great gains, given the improved air-flow and the leaner (better) A/F curve.
Since the peak hp/torq are within reason, any increase in "meat" under the power band is likely a result of this specific mod, and the improved A/F curve. Smells like good gains..not BS...
Like the man said...take dynos numbers with a grain of salt. Even when done on the same day, with the same dyno, they are not 100% accurate.....but I think these results are directional...and quite positive.

Very nice piece. Sharif hit it right on the head. Look at the AF ratios before and after and you can understand where the power comes from. I'd also like to know pricing on such a pretty piece.

For those people who is surprised about the amount of HP gain on this Y-Pipe, please refer to the Air/Fuel Ratio Chart and read them carefully, as some of other members have explained the reason for the improvement also, then it ill make more sense and logical. We have done our best to provide as much details as we can, we did 3 base runs and 3 more additional runs after the Y-Pipe is installed. The Dyno chart shows the maximum amount of gains, but we did disclose all the #'s on each run for you reference. Thank you.

The numbers do sound a little high but the leaning out could be part of the reason. I really like the quality, very nice job, it looks like what you get from Japan, like the Fujitsubo catback I have.
What you have to be careful is what other mods you might want to do if you get this pipe and it leans it out the way it did here because I know when I put in my last piece, which was the test pipes it leaned it out, so here this car has very little room for more leaning out due to mods, a reflash will definelty be needed in the future.

I'm not surprised at the amount of HP gains with just a Y-Pipe change. Besides the cats, the Y-pipe on a lot of cars are the most restrictive part of an exhaust system. On my other car, before I installed headers, I got 18 HP peak with just a y-pipe change. I don't remember the rest of the powerband.
