By buying these and drilling the non-fouler that will be the new housing of the O2 sensor to 1/2" OD.

It looks like it moves the O2 sensor out of the direct exhaust stream but what does this accomplish?

I threw an emission based CEL on my '04. Stacking two non-foulers per side moves the sensor out of the emission mainsream so the ECU senses the cat heating while only detecting a small percentage of the dirty emissions keeping the ULEV program happy. The only important note is that the O2 sensor can only mount in one of these if it is drilled out to 1/2" OD. Hope this helps if it becomes an issue on newer Zs. It may only affect newer Gs.

Yeah it must be a 2004 problem, just had my 04 fitted w/Stillen test pipes, and my light came on in 25 miles. Then had one of my techs clear the memory and it came back on in about 50 more miles. The code was a cat deficancy. So I dont know if will effect anything, but I will let it be for now.

I have an 04 with test pipes and no CEL!!! I do have one of the first 04's though. So this may be on the newer production 04 models.

I have a CEL with helix test pipes. Hasnt gone away. I bought an 02 simulator from skidazzle but have not installed it yet. I goes into your ECU. I heard it works great though.

That is interesting, we were surprised when we originally released straight through pipes and they never threw check engine lights even though the catalytic converters were completely removed.

seems to be really flaky ECU detection.... some people get them with testpipes, other don't... sometimes it takes 1-2K miles, other times a mere 100 or so...

i have heard the CEL comes on (for rear O2 codes) for some people, but then goes back off by itself with no intervention!

i was unlucky, in that mine would come up in less than 100mi... ever since I put an O2 simulator, my CEL has stayed off!!! yay!

It is good to have fix options for those that need it, mechanical or electronic.
