Does any one recomend the K&N drop-in filter as a replacement for the stock air filter? I mean is it worth it in term of power gain?

I have had a K&N in a couple of my cars and never noticed a power gain but they are much better filters than stock.

 

I used to have one in my 2.8 BMW Z3, and as you said, nothing is felt!!
Dont know about the Z though.

 

It ia supposed to add up to 6 hp Ive heard but I cant feel that I guess

 

i doubt you will feel any gains. but an advantage for the k&n is that you can clean and reuse them.

 

I would ditch the K&N, all it did for my car was made the oil dirtier by letting more crap into the intake.

 

I have one, It does flow freer flowing than the stock filter. I used it for about 6K miles, and liked it. I now have a POPCharger, and love the sound. If you're interested, you can have mine for $25.00 shipped.

LOL, fat chance. There's a possibility it added .06hp.

 

It won't help much at all for power. So don't get it for that.. But it will help make sure you get cleaner air with less dirt and dust into your engine.

My suggestion, save that 40, put it into a fund and when you have 120 or so, get the pop-charger.

 

CAI and pop-chargers just add sound in my opinion. The Z intake is designed really well. The K&N filter does flow better, now if that produces noticeable gains, who knows? I am sure the butt dyno of CAI and pop-charger people is all from the added sound. The Nimo Sports Air Element flows better than the K&N and it makes a different intake sucking sound. Once again, its minimal HP gains.

 

If you want to keep your stock intake box assembly (which I agree, is designed well) then I think it's worth it. You won't get the dramatic sound that some of the CAI's or "chargers" will give you but I'll bet the performance is more or less equal.

From my experience, it (the drop-in) makes the intake a tiny bit louder than stock. However, many people are finding out that Nissan built a pretty good mouse trap to begin with. Who knows? Maybe the best way to approach the intake is to leave it completely stock with the OEM element.

Save your money. I switched to the Pop Charger after the K&N and actually saw a drop in my 1/8 mile times using the Wolf popcharger.
