Default Nismo Sport Cats

Anyone have any experience with the Nismo Sport cats. Im trying to decide what direction to go with my exhaust. I think Im set on the Injen SES dual system from the cat back but still trying to decide whether to go straight pipes or try the Nismo Cats. I moved to NJ and have had my car for a year and have not gotten inspection yet but I don't know if I want to keep things going this way.

From past experience it seems like Nismo is often way overpriced for the performance you get. Any opinions on these???

You are better off getting Crawford high flow cats or Kinetix Racing high flow cats.

NISMO high flows, Central20, and other Japanese makes are very expensive and aren't proven to gain any better than the ones made here.

Stay away from Random Technology cats, they are known to break and fail. This is not only a problem with the Z, but with other cars they make it for as well. So I would totally stay away from them.

Both Crawford Z Car and Kinetix Racing are sponsors of MY350Z.COM.

The Kinetix have fitment problems, the Crawfords dont. Power output is about the same. Go with the Crawfords.

I havent had any problems with my RT cats. And they have been on for over 5000 miles. Go with what makes you comfortable.

Maybe yours do, but their are many posts at this website from people who's don't. I'm just warning him of a potential problem with the Kinetix Hi-Flows. No one, including myself, has had a fitment problem with the Crawfords.

You OK with that

All that rain down Tucson way must be making someone cranky. j/k

You'll find that Kinetix has identified and addressed the cat fitment issue. It was something to do with their jigs and welding heat issues. I did go with the Ultimate Racing cats because Kinetix hadn't fixed the fitment issue when I was ready to purchase. If I were to buy now, I'd go with the Kinetix.

Z1 Performance is a board sponser and they use Ultimate Racing Cats. Great sound, fit and build quality.

Thanx for the input guys. I leaning torwards the crawfords if I decide to go with cats. Im getting their plenum and possibly their headers so I figure why not go with the complete system.

Im still considering test pipes too. Im looking at the Helix and B&B. Anyone have any idea why the B&Bs are $200 more?

I use my car for everyday driving but works only 4 miles away. I just don't know if test pipes are the best route to go which is why I asked about the cats. Im set on the Injen SES exhaust and I heard its EXTREMELY loud with straight pipes. I just moved to NJ so Im not extremely familiar with the laws and how well they are enforced but I would appreciate any opinions on using straight pipes in NJ and getting away with it from any of you east-coaster drivers.

One more question while I have your attention. Just ordered a JWT pop charger. Was going to go with the Injen CAI but too much rain here lately for that plus sounds like the JWT is the same HP gains. Anyways Ill probably do the instal this week and I have to go on a long drive next weekend of about 600 miles do you think I need to re-set the ecu before doing this drive?

I spent the last year working on the sound system and interior time to get some speed.... Thanx again for all you help,

Kinetix has a groupbuy now for $340 shipped.. so you'll be saving over $100 vs the crawford one which is $449 + shipping.. just a thought.. planning on getting the Kinetix Y pipe when it comes out as well
