oh yeah, and to answer your Q, ...All the dynos Ive read about typically show 5whp gains (give or take a HP).
yeah...I have been amember for a while and I have read alot of threads...so obviously if I remembered I would not have asked.
Also can you provide one of these dynos?
Are you sure that it was the only mod tested?

I just get urked by a cliam like 6.5HP because there have been members on this site who have put on entire cat back exhaust/ headers/ and pulleys and have only gained that much.
Also there is no mention of a TQ gain or a graph!
Its one of those Id love to believe it but I don't. Also it is easy to make claims like that in amag since no one can truly prove the.
dyno wrong...too many variables. It sucks!
If anyone has a soundbite I would LOVE to hear it.
Also..has anyone noticed a change in Gas mileage after install?

youre right.. and there are TOO MANY variables when dyno'ing, which is why I dont even bother lol...I just use other peoples' #'s (mod combos) as a reference to conclude what kind of gains I May be making.
And Yes, My MPG went up from an average of 24 To 24.9.

the heat shield definitely does more than just add weight. if you put your hand in the engine compartment after driving you can feel a difference between the air in the area of the intake that is surrounded by the heat shield compared to other areas of the engine bay. simple as that.
LOL. thats denial speaking for you, or lack of knowledge in this area. (Not flaming so dont get offended
) It does NOT help enough to make a difference..I went on a test drive (10 Miles, about 15 Mins)..When I returned, I opened the hood and touched the Filter element. It was too hot to touch, as was the "Heatshield". I agree, maybe it shields SOME heat, but again, not enough to make a difference, and they screwed up in the construction of the Element, IMO, Using aluminum. BLAH

Ace...enough said. Im sold. I have a drop in K&N now but I will be ordering a Pop Charger ASAP.
May I ask how long it should take a dealership to install?...I am DIY "special"...haha

Bro...please DIY lol. Its really simple, Hell Id do it for you for free if you were nearby. the dealer will probably charge $100 to install
but, with that said. Install took me about 15 mins. dealer will probably Lag and take an hour+

very simple, good directions come with the POP Charger
Mine makes a freaking ringing noise! I may not have it tightened all the way. I think leave it on as to protect water from splashing up into the intake. If you drive it thgrough a puddle of something. If water is found in your oil Nissan will void your warranty.
the only thing hard about installing the pop charger is pulling out the old air intake box. I used to think it was getting those two holes in the plastic to hold the heat shield, until I discovered to use a soldering iron to burn the holes thru the plastic - don't try to use a drill, it'll drive you nuts. I never tried using a hole puncher or anything like that, but a simple soldering iron worked great.
i actually don't hear the whistle sound everyone talks about - with the windows down, even the hood up. But I do hear the roar it makes above 4000 rpm - it's absolutely mean sounding in 1st-3rd gear in the upper rpm's. Can't say you can really feel it, maybe you can, but probably mostly in your head. The dyno on JWT's site shows the gain only happening above 4000rpm so that makes sense cause that's when you actually hear it

you know now that i think about it, i am positive the area surrounded by the heat sheild is cooler, but was it cooler than the air that would be in the stock air box? i think not.
anyway i think it's not a good mod at all for performance because it probably doesn't add any. but i got it cheap used from a local forum member and thought it was a nice way to start mods, plus it sounds cool
