Flowmaster 80 series pics
A few people have PMed me asking so here they are.
Its a much smaller/lighter muffler and it adds a GREAT sound to the car. Great bang for the buck mod IMO.
No NOTICEABLE performance gains.
Also removed a heat shield near the right rear wheel that is not needed any more with stock muffler gone. It probably weighed about 4 lbs.

I'm not trying to be an @$$, but how can you say great bang for the buck if you don't get any performance gain. The picture of the exhaust shows that the pipes weren't mandrel bent, but crush bend. That mean that you are limiting the exaust flow. I'm sorry but I believe you just wasted your money because you'll probably end up buying a new one later if you want to see performance gain. Oh yeah that heat shield you removed was keeping the evap canister from heating up. You know that evap canaster has small quantities of gas going to it right. Just my 2 cents.
First those pipes you reffer to are stock Nissan pipes.
Second it is a great bang for the buck mod because just like almost every exhaust is provides sound difference and not much in the way of performance. As far as what the heat shield covered Ive tested and the cables never get hot not to mention Nissan Dealer itself said it was fine.
On another note a member here DYNOED and gained 5WHP + 6TQ which is as good as just about any cat back Ive seen. Not to mention the weight I shed. Sound is also amazing...like stock but deeper.
Again best bang for the buck airflow mod out there IMO.
Not that IM trying to be an @ss

the diffuser is an aero aid, but don't worry about it, none of the aftermarket systems have it, not even the nismo.
I liked the sound of my flowmaster, considering replacing the borla muffler with the 2in 2out one.

The only sound I have heard that I like a little better is the Nismo. I honestly do not think i lost ANY power with the flowmaster. And it really does make a great deep note. Nothing American Sounding about it either IMO.
If anything between that and the K&N drop in the car seems to breathe a bit better. Anyway I dont know enough about the stock muffler to really make an educated editiorial as far as performance.
Where is the guy with the flowmaster DYNO when you need him

I know this is an old post but I am considering a flowmaster 80 (and using the extra cash for other mods) vs. a nismo catback. What in your opinion makes the flowmaster inferior?

I have a flowmaster 80 series and I think it is at the top of the list. Quality if for sure top notch, and "INFERIOR", go to the damn race track every now and then. About 80 percent of racers use them for a reason....they are the best flow for the buck. also they sound deep and not to rice. Most of the systems that I have heard make the Z sound like a Honda Civic with a pipe...and we know how great that sounds.

i don't know who's car you've been listening to or your just tone def. i was happy with my nismo and now with my greddy evoII. but to each is own. if i was going to do a custom exhaust, i would have done the same thing as wicked4u2c did.
