Default CAr has become unstable

Has anyone experienced their 350 becoming unstable in a straight line? The car has done 27500miles and over the last 3000 miles the car is very difficult to hold in a straight line without making constant adjustments to the steering wheel.

It now tram-lines like crazy and is difficult to change lanes until you turn the wheel a fair amount, you then have to be prepared for the car to suddenly ****** across and be quick to compensate.

It is also very sensitive to turbulance coming off trucks and SUV's on the highway, and is difficult to hold straight when acelerating and changing gear.

The car has never been in a shunt, and the wheel alignment was found to be in spec. Has anyone experienced the same problem and if so what is the cure?

I have been noticing the same thing over the last couple of thousand miles and I only have 14000+ on my 2003 350Z. My car is only ever driven on good roads in South FL and even thne mostly express way driving on I-75. It almost seems like something is coming loose and the front end wants to waunder and then all of sudden responds to driver input.

I am scheduled to take me car in on Thursday to get the tires replaced again so I will see what they have to say about it then.

I will be interested to hear what they say, my dealer just said that the tracking was in spec and there was nothing loose. Not that that holds much weight!

Keep me posted, I hope that they find a cure!

Well all they did was rotate the tires and realign the car again. They agree'd that the tires are feathered but would not replace them. In re-aligning they did not change much and only reduced the total toe from 0.14 degree to 0.09 degree. It does seem to drive a little different but I have only driven it about 12 miles so I will have to wait and see if it helps.

I guess I am out of luck on ever getting new tires out of Nissan again since my 2 year extend warranty is up on 12/30.

SAME exact problem here, Im now at 24k miles...the car is now scary at higher speeds~100mph and does not feel stable at all on the freeway... Im taking it in to the dealership on monday but Im not sure what exactly to complain about, something is def wrong and its not like it used to be.

my front tires only have like 3thousand miles and my rears are brand new. They adjusted something in my car not sure what a while ago for the tire feathering problem, but that doesnt explain why its acting up now...

Wow I can't believe this is happening to you guys too! I'm a new driver but drive roughly 2 hours every day so I have some decent experience and I have noticed this as well. At first I thought it was my error, but I mean sometimes I'll just be driving and the road starts to bend and the front of the car all of a sudden just starts like freaking out!!!! What should I do?

Has everyone experiencing this problem checked tire pressures and lugnut torque? I've found that the Z can be pretty sensitive to a few pounds too high or low on the air pressure.

Another thing to consider is the quality of the road pavement that this occurs on and how that interacts with your tires. Here in Denver, we're experiencing several major road 'improvement' projects that cause some sections of highway to be poorly paved during some phases of the project. The soft tires that I have on the Z right now (S-03) seem to be much more sensitive to changes in grip, paving quality, and material when driving over some of these rough sections than the much harder tires that are on my truck.

Also, they're experimenting with longitudinal grooves in some sections of highway pavement here to somehow help traction in the snow. Unforunately, with soft tires on the Z that track every little change in the pavement, I've noticed that the Z will literally jump from side-to-side between these grooves as the front tires track across the surface. It's so bad that there was a news story here a while back on the problem for performance-car drivers that has caused the DOT to re-consider the project.

Just a few things to consider.

So, I have new rear tires and my fronts are the stock, altough they are both farily new, the tread pattern is way different...thats what they said at the dealership...BS?? maybe I'm not sure but I really dont know what to do now..dont want to fork over another 400 for new fronts....

now that Im thinking about it, it doesnt really make sense...but I guess they drove it on the freeway and thats what they came up with.

ive got mismatched front and rears since the dealership replaced my front tires as a result of feathering and put on s03's as replacements. and on the rear ive still got the stock re040s. i do not experience anything like what you are talking about.

Just so you know, my entire rear assembly has come loose. You can move the entire thing by grabbing the wheel and pushing it back and forth. I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to have them check it out. I believe it to be a bad IRS bushing or bolt that is now missing. It's really bad under heavy acceration...

Thread resurrection...

I am now having this same exact problem after installing coilovers, and SPC front upper control arms.

I threw the arms on myself, and it was badly out of alignment spec, so I figured that was the problem, I got the car aligned today and everything is in spec.

1) I've checked all suspension, sway bars, etc.. nothing is loose
2) I checked tire pressure, its fine

I am not slammed or anything, just tucking tire on 19x9.5 +12 and 19x11 +15 with 245/35 and 275/35.

Please if anyone knows of anything else I can check or need to try, please let me know!!!

twice ive had issues where the rear end seems to be swaying back and forth while on the interstate. couldnt for the life of me figure it out for a while. both times it has ended up being a wheel bearing.
