Unhappy Obnoxious Shifter Rattle.....dealer says its normal

I have had a annoying shifter rattle ever since I purchased my car. It now has 15K miles on it and the rattle is seriously annoying me. The rattle occurs between 4,500 and 5,000 rpms, especially in third gear. My car was in for service this past Thursday and the dealer said it was a normal sound. I cannot believe that this is normal for a $35K sports car. My previous $20K VW interior never rattled.... fit and finish was much better, not to mention that it didn't need new front tires every 8K miles. Has anyone else experienced this problem and fixed it?

if it is a slight rattle/vibration then it is normal. closest i can think of is the electric razor-type vibration.

what you dont want is grinding.

No grinding, just a loud very audible rattle. Drives me nuts.

Something that occurs for 500 RPM in a range that is not used that often drives you nuts. You thought about seeing a doctor about that?

It is not normal. Mine had that problem. There is some loose bolt in the shift ****.

Make them fix it or you can attempt to remove the shift **** yourself, but follow these instructions very carefully so you don't damage anything: http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../NTB02-102.htm
