Question RPM gauge died and stuck on 2k

I'm making a left turn the other day and noticed my RPM gauge was dead and on 2k. I turned off the car to see if it was a computer glitch but that didn't work. It came back after 2 minutes and then died again. I haven't seen the problem come back but I have a feeling it will. Anything I can DIY to prevent me from wasting some time at the dealer?

My car is still under warranty and all but I don't think I can replicate the problem deliberately.

I have a similar problem, but with my speedo... the gauge will drop intermittently from 60 to 45mph when I'm cruising at a constant 60mph. I can't consistently replicate the problem either... keep us posted as to what you do (or what your dealer says).

I had that problem one day, smacked the gauge a few times and it went away. Happened again a little while later that day.

That was 4 months ago and nothing has happened since.
