Default Nissan gave me an offer....

I got a call today from the very helpful BBB rep (I made a claim wtih them because of the tire feathering) and she informed me that Nissan has made an offer. Nissan told her that supposedly they've teamed with Bridgestone Tires to come up with a "better" tire for the 350Z. They are willing to replace my two front tires with these "new" tires and also re-align my suspension to the TSB specs.

What do you guys think I should do? I was going to accept their offer but I thought it might be better to discuss it with some pros here first. I'm just afraid that this problem will re-occur after 5000 miles and I'll be in the same position as I am now. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Before the TSB, my tires were toast from the uneven wear. I argued with the dealership and eventually dealt with NNA to get them replaced. First thing the dealership did was an alignment and I was told it was fine- (fine enough to eat up the tires!!)
Got the tires replaced and immediately took it to a friend's tire store with a good reputation. They downloaded the most recent specs, put the car on the rack and showed me the readings- they were marginally off on one side and way off on the other.
Do youself a favor and have them mount the tires but pay for a professional tire dealer to do the alignment- Nissan dealers are not capable of getting it right.

What i'lldo myself is most likely buy my own tires and have my own car aligned at at an alignment shop. I think that'll probably be the way to cure to the problem, but I'm not sure myself, but who knows.

That's what I'm essentially going to do. Nissan is actually going to give me $600 cash which they say will cover the cost of two new front tires and an alignment. I might just replace all four now that I'm doing it. But yeah, I don't have to go to the dealership like I had originally thought.

My only dillema now is picking the right tires for the front and also finding a good alignment shop!

I want to corroborate what was said above.
Find a GOOD independent alignment shop that will show you their calibration records and stay with them.

After 36k miles chewing up tires from 3 different dealerships, Nissan installed a free set and aligned. I took it directly to a carefully selected independent and found the alignment way off. I have driven 14k miles since, with no feathering, no noise, and big smiles.

I was amazed at how many alignment shops either "do not document calibrations" or "will not show me their calibration records", I read as "we don't do it and we don't care".
If the alignment machine is not calibrated, it's useless to 350z owners that need a precise alignment.
That is all...I'm out of breath.

nissan changed and alligned my tires 3 times. right after the 3rd time i went from nissan to a professional and got alignment specs and apparantly they were way off. that professionally signed alignment check and with the paper showing nissans alignment check and their figures (where at the bottom of the page has a note that severe wear would take place using nissans specs),
WON ME THE CASE WITH THE BBB.

i would would advise people with this problem take action immediately and keep good records. from what i've experianced this car is a piece of crap after 12,000 miles. good luck to all

ironman75,

What are the numbers used to align your car and do you have any feathering yet with the new settings?

Thanks
