Default Time for a new clutch?

First of all, i have searched but been unable to find the answer to this question: in the past week, when shifting into different gears, my clutch has just gone down to the floor very easily without any resistance whatsoever. My clutch is usually on the stiff side. Do i need a new clutch, or is this something that just requires an adjustment? If i do need a new clutch, do i need it immediately? Is it a safety issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's hard to say based on the info you provided. You may just be low on Dot3 fluid. I do know that you'd experience things like hard shifting & / or major slippage if the clutch plate was bad or worn down.

Sounds like a trip to the dealer may be in order though.

Check ur clutch fluid and add additional fluio if it's empty. If the problem doesn't gi away, u might have to replace the master cylinder for the clutch. Is ur car still under warranty?

Jason from Performance nissan suggested it might be a leak at the header-cat juction causing the clutch fluid to boil, and i believe he was right cuz i had some new headers installd just days before the problem started. i tightened up the nuts, which improved things but didn't completely resolve the problem. I think i may have blown the gasket; a new one has been ordered. thanks again, jas
