If you have a loud roaring noise, especially @ 30-35 mph and below, you've got feathering. H@ll, from the pics alone, it appears that way.

I was looking at the first and second pics. The inside tread blocks appear to be raised on the edges.

yes you're right it does look that way... i drove down an absolutely quiet street after your post, and shifted to neutral and let her roll from 45mph down to 20 and i didn't hear a thing from the front wheels with my windows down... does this mean anything ?

If you don't hear anything then your safe for now. I would keep an eye on them, though.

No prob, Desi. I just had my fronts replaced on my '04 this past Tuesday. The roaring was unbearable! Hopefully, you won't have to deal with this.

This is a pic of the front driver's side tire with the steering wheel turned all the way to the left.

If you feel the raised surface at point X, you have feathering.

First they do a new alignment with the latest specs. They also swap the tires right to left.

See this thread to see exactly what they do:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ight=tire+Bonz

Then when you feather the OTHER side of the tire, you then get new front tires. Sometimes if the feathering is so severe, they'll skip the swap and just give you the new tires.

No, you have to have OEM tires on the car for them to do this.

I believe that they have some sort of reimbursement procedure though. If you can prove that you had the feathering and had your tires replaced before the TSB was issued, I think they will reimburse you a certain amount. I'm not completely sure though. Call Nissan and ask them. I wouldn't trust what your dealer tells you so call Nissan directly.

desiZ,
try braking between 45 and 20mph. If you hear roaring, you may have the problem. Don't worry, you're not alone. There are self-help books available, and if you need, we have a large and caring support group that meets here every Thursday night. Just say "Hi, my name is desiZ, and I have a problem". And we say, "Hi desiZ, we are working on a solution...don't give up".

if your lucky, they might be able to fix it with an alignment and new tires. if like me that doesnt work, file a lemon law suit after their 4th attempt and buy a new car.

After 36k miles of suffering, my dealer put new tires on front and aligned. Immediately, I took to independent shop and confirmed my dealer's equipment was off, probably was off for the last 36k miles. The independent aligned, and I've driven for 16k miles with no problems.
