'05 Tranny Issues?
Hello All,
First time poster, longtime reader.
I have an '05 PPW base 6spd. 3300 mi. Pop charger installed @ 500 mi.
Had the car for 4 weeks. 60 mi. commute one way, occasional, LA traffic days up and down the 101, and the occasional
juant to 100 -115 mph. Yesterday morning, I start the car and smell a faint burning, like a clutch. didn't think anything of it.
When I start driving I noticed when I give it gas, I ssssllllowwwly pick up speed...sorta like the clutch slipping.
When I shift up, the clutch feels like it grabs the fly wheel normally, but when I give it gas from there it feels like slippage. It does this from
1st to 6th. Thought about this all day Thursday, read all the post, did a search on a few Z forums....no mention about '05 tranny issues.
on my way home from work, the car feels normal...no slippage and it was 76-80 degrees or so. This morning, same thing....slippage, or what feels like slippage. Now, I have 18 years of
So. Cal driving experience...had a '91 sentra that lasted 250,000 miles on the original clutch. I know enough about clutches, trannies, and engines to be dangerous.
But this puzzles me....3300 or so miles...clutch is slipping? could it be the that the tranny fluid is breaking down in 55-60 degree mornings so soon?
all comments are welcome.
Oh yeah, I'm going in to Performance Nissan in Duarte, to get an oil change, and to hit them up about the "slipping".
I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Thanks,
Emil

I took the car to the dealer yesterday. On the way there it was fine, drives normally.
They had 2 techs drive the car. (IT DOES sound really nice with the popcharger when your watching it go) they could not find anything wrong. I drive it home from the dealer...fine, nothing wrong. I go out that night, and guess what? It slips @ around 3000 - 3500 RPM. WTF?!?! STOP IT ALREADY!. My Brother has a V6 Alitma and a Quest. He told me about "LIMP MODE". What is this? An offshoot of Busta Rhymes' group Flip Mode??? Anyway, I read about "limp Mode"....and I'ts not what I'm going through. I think it may be the clutch. It happens on all gears. It catches the flywheel fine up to 3000-3500 RPM, then from there it slips. When I'm at a stop, I can smell the clutch. HAS ANYONE ever experienced this, or may think they are?? Am I alone?

I had a clutch burning smell a few times with the clutch all the way out, and it also seemed to "slip" once a month or so. Then twice the clutch pedal got stuck part of the way up to where I had to use my foot to pull it out. I reported this to my dealer (which also likes to say they can't repeat problems), and they bled the clutch system. I immediately noticed a difference. Smoother, and the slipping/burning smell went away. I just wonder how many miles I lost on that clutch!
Anyway, try that and see if it helps.

I have 2005 Touring 6SP with 8000 miles and I'm experiencing the similar issues as described:
- Clutch slips - (intermittently)
- Clutch pedal got stuck part of the way - (2 times already)
- Burnt clutch smell - (and I thought it was the cars around me!)
- Difficulty shifting to 6th gear - (every once in a while)
- Unusual clutch vibration & clatter
I'm taking it to a local Bay Area Dealer
