Default Mystery Problem-HELP!

The other night I was driving my '05 Z coupe home for a poker game and as I was coasting at 40mph. the RPM neddle started fluttering rapidly between 2-4 thousand rpms. Moreover, the engine shook such that the only way to stop it was to push in the clutch (or down shift). If the clutch is not pushed in the engine will loose power.
I took the next day off from work to go to the Nissan Service Center, the computer check showed no problems. Worse is that this problem has happened 5 times now (within 24hrs.) BUT, it happens very intermitantly -- you could drive for 2hrs. without an episode. In fact, the tech went for a 10 mile drive in it and nothing happened. The Z has almost 6K miles and is still well under warranty. However, the Service Center cannot fix anything if they can't find the problem.
Please, has anyone experienced this, or know what the problem might be? This is depressing me!

Sounds like the crank position sensor- for which there is a recall.

Read the thread that is pinned at the top of this page.

nissanusa.com only has a bulletin for the 2003 engine sensor recall.

Thank you for your response. I will definately suggest this to the Service Center -- though being an '05 Coupe; there is no recall for the crank position sensor (according to the website). Any further input is greatly appreciated.
