Angry Stolen Wheels - Need Advice

Looking for some advice here. All 4 of my wheels were stolen last night and my car remains on blocks. Has anyone been through this process? Should I just go buy 4 new 18" rims from Nissan tomorrow and keep the receipts for insurance? How could the car be towed without wheels? What options do I have there? I've never been through this before and its in an apartment complex parking lot. Yes I know, not the ideal location, but it is what it is. Just looking for advice on how to proceed. I have a police report, and called the insurance company (no help really), and of course the adjuster cant come out until Tuesday, because of the holiday weekend. Just trying to figure out my options here. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

oem rims are super expensive from the dealer. now's your chance to buy some aftermarkets, or buy used oems from someone here on the site.
just get a quote from your dealer for 4 rims and tires, and submit that to your ins co for reimbursement.

Start checking on ebay to see if they show up there for sale. It won't be the first time this has happened. good luck.

Well I guess im just going to have to wait for the insurance adjuster to come out and leave it as is on the blocks. What a crappy week. Should I just go to the dealer directly for a quote for 4 new tires and wheels? Someone said they would be about $1000 a piece or something crazy like that.

I guess I'll wait to get the check, or approval for a check and buy used OEMS more than likely for now. Depending on the cost of the OEM's compared to descently priced aftermarkets.

I will keep checking Ebay although the police said that a lot of nissan wheels have been stolen in the area recently. So who knows what these people are up to.

Look closely at how the car is setting on the blocks. Take closeup pictures. This is just in case the crooks did damage to undercarriage. You may need to include any damage repair in your insurance claim. The service manual is very specific about how to support the cars weight. There are "convenient" areas under the car to shoove a block that will cause chassis panels to split. Also, look for where they jacked the car at. There may be damage there too.

Well...half the car is under another nissan wheel/tire in the middle of the car.
The other side is basically on the brakes or rotors?? I guess? Its not good...from what i can tell. It is still sitting there and its driving me nuts to think about it. Nissan parts arent open today so I can't even get a quote for new wheels and tires...i dont even know what other damage there may be either. Adjuster is unavailable as well till tomorrow....its been a long 24 hrs i guess you could say.

No I didn't have wheel locks unfortunately. I am getting two different keys for the next set though. I guess I overlooked the fact that there weren't wheel locks on my car.

I called the insurance company. Still waiting on them...In the meantime I may just have to buy a set of used wheels. But I wanted the adjuster to come out and look to see if there was any other damage (although I don't know if they can tell either which way). So for now its still sitting the same way it was. I have pictures and everything. Been a slow process with the long weekend. So the adjuster is supposed to come out in the next day or so...If I put in a claim and get used wheels does the insurance company have a problem with that or do you just not tell them? I've never really had to make a claim and have been lucky up until this point.

I had my wheels stolen out of my garage. Here is the break down for the 18" touring wheels with TPS.

1 wheel 1430.12 x4=1720.48
Center of rim 34.67 x 4 =138.68
TPS sensor 114.80 x 4= 459.20
Tires front 289.99 x 2= 575.98
Tires Rear 298.50 x 2=597.00

For a grand total of.......... $ 7491.34

I almost crapped myself when the dealer told me the prices. I couldn't believe that they were this expensive. Good luck, I am still working with my insurance company about them. Since they were not on the car, they are under renters insurance. <M>

Holy ****! $7500 for rims and tires....that's just crazy. I was thinking around $4000 tops. I guess the estimates could vary from company to company but if they are coming directly from nissan they should be consistent.

hmm...thats a ridiculous amount though.

I did some bad math.. 1430.12 x 4 =5720.48 The end total is directly from the dealer. <M>

There was a fellow forum member who had her Nismo wheel stolen. She posted here for some help/support, another member saw the stolen wheel for sale on Ebay, notified the owner who in term got the police involved. They arrested the thief red-handed and wheels went back to the rightful owner, it was a happy ending. I am hoping the same for you! Below is the link to that post:

That's great news! The higher the $, the better! That's about what you will have to spend on aftermarket wheels of your choice! You can get nice aftermarket rims for that kind of money.

Get some loaner/beater rims to move the car...then go SHOPPING!!!
