OBD II Scanner for Z

Does anyone know if regular OBD II Scanner will work on a 2003 Z (ones costing <$100)? The ones with CAN function cost more then and I am not sure if CAN is needed for the Z.

Z use CAN as well as many other high end cars.
I think it will be mandatory soon.. circa 2008
I could use one too..

I've got the $79 digimoto and its works fine. reads and resets codes

digimoto web site says that this software with elm interface is 93 - does someone else sell it for less money?
